Hey guys! so i got the car today and its awesome!
just two small things that aren't up to par.
I think the parking brake is broken. when i pressed it down it had so Resistance and it wont come back up unless i reach down with my hand and pull it up. the light comes on but i don't think it actually engages.
also, my father told me that it wont start sometimes in the mornings, he will turn the key and hear nothing. but it starts on the second or third try.
any ideas?

For the starting issue try Lucas injector cleaner I've had that problem with my car b4 and it clears it up for the parking break ur going to have to look at it and possibly tighten it on the back drums

The Lucas wont help it start if it doesnt turn over to begin with. Thats the issue he is having if I read it correctly
Check your battery ground(black cable) under the back seat. Remove it from where it bolts to the body, take a little sand paper and remove any paint that under where it contacts the body. Then bolt it back down.
Have YOU had the starting issue?
And he doest have drums on an 00+ Bonneville.

It is hard to pull it back up or pretty easy? Sounds like the actual mechanism in the pedal assembly is acting up.

well i push it down and it locks in place. and to get it back up i just have to pull it up till it stops, and then back down and then up all the way. it not hard at all.

You do know that there is a point that once you set it, you just push it down a little bit again and it is supposed to pop back up correct?

Do a little digging and see if there is or isnt. Pull down the kick panel and such, get under there with a flashlight, etc.
And a few pics would help if you can get some. Hard to diagnose things without actually physically looking at the car.

I applaud the effort to have everything in working order, but is it something you need to put any time into solving? I can't remember the last time I used the parking brake on a car...an automatic anyway.

I dont use em either but on hills and such they help from putting pressure on on the prawl so you can get it out of gear easier.

HAHAHAHAHA! I read that, too. My money is on autocorrect failure. I love technology!
FWIW a parking brake is a vital safety device. I wouldn't trust my life to wheel chocks if I've got the car lifted up in front and am reefing on something from under the car.
I remember one time as a little kid when my dad had placed some bricks out to park his 1970 Camero to do some work on it. They were in the driveway, and he was rolling the car toward them and I was like "Oh no, he probably doesn't see them bricks! He's gonna run em over!" So I ran out and grabbed them, thinking I had saved the day.
When you're under a ton of steel, it's nice to have a couple forms of precaution.

Its also called check your work and user failure. Its getting pretty rampant on the forums I am on. I post from my phone a lot and always re-read what I type. Some people are just lazy.....
