relay hot to touch

my trunk doesn't work ne more when u press the button on the driver door or fob. to open the trunk i have to jump where the trunk release relay is. if i put a relay in there it's gets extreme hot to the touch and i have to wait for it to cool off to jump and open the trunk again. ne clues to direct me on what to look for or do

First off, I believe the word you are looking is any, not 'ne'.

Second, a hot relay is either bad, or something is shorting out and causing the relay to overheat. Have you tried it with a different relay? If so, you may need to trace the circuit for any shorts.
