Cluster bulb replacement

Since I did the overlays, the oil pressure gauge bulb has been wonky. It will work if I tap on it, but it doesn't seem to come back on every time I start the car. 
It looks like I may have to replace my cluster bulbs, some other bulbs have done this to me too, but the tap trick worked on all of those so far. I found this thread from a while back: viewtopic.php?f=9&t=10210
I don't want to screw something up with the gauge needles, not so much the removal, but the replacement. I assume they would have to go back on exactly as they were??
I may just have the guy who is doing my iPod interface do it, he's versed well with gauge clusters and such. Just wanted to see if it's something I can do to save money.
