Hello From Alaska

Hello, I am the new owner of a 2004 Bonneville SE I bought from a car auction the other day. Long story short, ok not so short but my mom bought the car brand new in 04 and drove it till about 2 weeks ago when some one in a Ford Explorer hit her in the rear quarter panel, swung her around and tagged the front passengers. The insurance compony decided to total the car out and she ended up with more then she expected and didnt ask to buy it back. After the accident they drove the car home because it was in perfectly good mechanical condition, just a dented up quarter panel and fender. Well after I found that out I jumped online and found the local place that had it up for auction and bought it back from them with a winning bid of $875. Aside from the dented up fender and panel the rest of the car is in pretty good shape. Runs great, shifts great, rides nice and handles just like it did before the Accident (My mom let me use it a couple times when my car was in the shop) so All in all i am very happy lol. Looks alittle rough right now but I have already located a front fender for $75 and a rear quarter for $250 right here in the state so Im hoping to get those in the next few weeks and have them sent down and hopefully by this spring have every thing I need to repair the car. Looking like around 700 or so in parts is what me and my neighbor who is an autobody guy (He is problubly going to help me with this, or at least walk me through and show me how....gotta learn some where right) to repair it myself (with help). When I went to get the title reconstructed it passed inspection with nothing more then a mirror screwed onto the door (Dont worry the holes will be hidden when the replacement mirror is put on later) to give you an idea of its condition.

I dont have any pics yet, but tomorrow I will snap a few and show some pics of the car and damage. All in all though, I think I got a pretty good deal. A running, drivable reliable car up here for under $2000 is pretty hard to find. And I always liked the Bonneville and told my mom one day I would like to buy it off her, which didnt happen but I did end up buying it :D Its so much bigger then our subaru was too, its easier to fit the kids in the back seat (3 car seats lol) of the Bonneville then the Legacy.

All right, here is my $875.00 Car.

And that side mirror is NOT staying lol, im hoping to order a new one this Friday. I had to put one on
for it to pass inspection though.

And here is why it was totalled....

The dent in the back was a little worse but I found my dads old dent puller with the hook peice and was
able to pull the metal back out away so it doesnt cut the tire. I jumped up and down in the trunk and had my
wife watch and she said it never came close to the tire so I think im ok for now in reguards to metal harming
the tire. O and those are brand new studded snow tires on it too by the way :D

And this I was told was NOT on the vehicle after the accident, this was caused by either the towing compony
or the at the auction house yard. When I picked he car up my mom saw this and got mad lol, even though she no longer
owned it she was mad to see more damage done to it after its accident.

Not bad, needs some work but it's doable, lol.

I like the tires, we have the same ones on my dad's GXP, sans studs, lol.

Ya it does need a good bit of work, but for $875 I couldnt pass it up. You cant find a GOOD reliable running car up here for less then $2000. Ya it has some body damage but I know this cars entire history too. I know the wheel barings up front have been changed last summer, its had its oil changed every 3k miles, It has mostly hwy miles, and that that it was treated well and not beat on by a spoiled 18 year old who mommy and daddy bought for him and he had no respect for lol.

Well you get what I mean though lol. I know kids who had their parant bought them new(ish) cars and they treat them badly. I know this car has been very well cared for, except the body damage of course lol.

Welcome.
Knowing the history of the car made it a no brainer. Plus for that kind of money it's a win win for you.
Can't wait to see the pictures after you get it all fixed.

No I know exactly what you mean. Friends of mine had their parents buy them $15k+ cars and they just get trashed...

I actually have a guy coming out to look at my Ranger tonight, if he buys it I will have the money to get the front fender and quarter panel. There is a place up in Fairbanks that has the front fender for $75 and the rear quarter for $250 so as long as this guy does buy it (strait up told me as long as he doesnt find any thing else wrong then what I had listed he was going to buy it.) I am going to call up the place with the parts and see what it would cost to have them shipped down here to Wasilla and if its not to bad then im going to have them sent down. So im hoping he does buy it, get me a jump on getting my parts :D

Also according to the site the parts were in good shape, just a little smoke damage from the engine catching on fire, thats what they say. Im going to see if I cant have him take a picture of them before I buy them though so I can make sure im not buying junk.
