Hey guys, just curious if any of you have some ideas of how to reduce noise from interior rattles. I have a couple of "issues areas" that I am trying to pinpoint, but need some ways to reduce the rattle amount. Any advice would be much appreciated, thanks!

Where are you rattling?

Things are pretty tight and quiet on my end.

:stupid:

I have one rattle in my trunk which could be all the crap I keep there.

Well I have little rattles here and there in the dash, but the one that mainly bothers me I believe is coming either from the sunroof or from the rear deck, but I have no been able to completely pinpoint it yet. Those stupid rattles are a real PITA. :booty2:

I'm hoping once I am able to put my new 6x9 speakers in, I can tighten anything up that maybe rattling from the rear deck.

Sunroof is a pain to fix. I avent gotten mine perfect, but adjusting the closing height helped a bunch. Mines really intermittant.

The dash is a doosey. Depending on where specifically its rattling. Mine creaks where the dash mounts to the firewall on the passenger side, so ill probably have to pull the whole thing out.

I've been wanting to gut the interior headliner to carpet and overhaul the thing.

I developed a rattle in my sunroof at the beginning of winter that I am 99% sure is the wind deflector. One of the tabs had broken off it at one point and I glued it back on but I'm guessing it broke off again and is now rattling. I think the springs for same need to be 'rebent' a little as well to tighten it up.

I know the glove box door and the ashtrays are just a couple usual spots. At least that's the way it was on my 99. Easily fixed with a little tightening.

Mine were in the rear doors.

my sliding panel to close off the sunroof glass sometimes vibrates so I move it back a hair and it stops. The other rattle (small) is in the left side/end of the dash, if I push my hand in between the dash and the door in that corner it stops, I think its either the vents there or that little speaker cover.

My RR door rattles with certain notes in a song. :banghead: I've got a bunch of (short) screws in my rear shelf, strategically placed to stop rattles...Also the door between the trunk and the back seat used to rattle. Weatherstripping tape fixed that.

Almost always the rattles in the ole green car is junk that either the "boss lady" or I have left in it. I clean the car out and there's a really good chance the rattle is gone - lol! - BC

Penelope, particularly when it's below 40 degrees, can be described as one really big rattle.

CMNTMXR57, do you know what it was rattling in your rear doors? That is a very likely culprit for me as most of the rattling sounds seem to be coming from the backseat area...

I'm also interested to fnd out, whatever it is is annoying and sounds metallic. I almost thought it could be the metal arms for the handle/lock assembly. :dontknow:

Going on memory here, I think it was the clips that held the door panel on that were more in the center of the door panel. Say, in the area behind the door pull handle on the door panel. NOT around the perimeter. If you break them (some where plastic if I recall... I only had them off once to try and fix it), you need to go get more from GM as they are specific to the car/GM. There may also be some christmas tree style ones in there in the mix. Maybe Haro or someone with more familiarity with the door panels can confirm. I don't recall metal clips, but there may have been.

I got all clips reset, then made sure as I brought the panel down, that I realigned it perfectly to get the clips to fasten properly between the panel and the metal door frame. It took a couple tries.

Do you mean the ones behind the door handle that clip into posts in the door, for more support to the handle?

Yea, I be thinking those were the ones. I remember having to get everything aligned as I brough the door panel down onto the door frame and after my third try I was able to get it.

Once again, this was a onex thing that I may not be recalling all parts on, but it seemed to work.
