battery/block ground strap bolt size -> p0171

Post by pmicaza »

hi,

97 ssei w/fwi

i have been trying to clear a p0171
check vacuum lines and manifold with starting fluid
and other things i dont remember right now

(we are back now...jehovah's witness at the door)

and i am now grasping at straws with suggestions like
get the plug wires away from the o2 sensor
clean the battery, (new), terminals and wires...

i just cleaning up the + cable at the starter and tried to get the - cable off the block but was unable.
it seems impractical to go from the top so i tried from the bottom with the belly pan off.
13mm seemed too small, 14mm too big, 9/16" didnt fit either.
while there is some crud on the bolt, not so much as to prevent a socket from fitting.

anyone know for sure the size of the block ground?
other suggestions re: p0171?

thanks,
peter
14mm seemed to

Not sure of the bolt size.

Have you checked the fuel pressure? How old is the fuel filter?

A lean contition is one of 2 things, too much air or not enough fuel. Did you check for leaks around the TB, LIM, SC and vacuum line to brake booster? Make sure you inspect the vacuum line under the SC snout really well. This line tends to dry out and crack easily. I got a new one from the dealer for $20 and it was the whole line from the MAP sensor all the way around to the BCA.
