The Bonneville is in the process of being packed to the hilt with baby stuff and tools.
Laura and I are leaving early next week. With any luck we'll arrive at my daughter Chynna's Alberta doorstep before her baby is born. Yep, my first grandchild......I am old!
The first leg of the journey will incorporate the usual two 'Fairy' rides departing from the Sunshine Coast.
Night one is a stopover at the Harrison Hot Springs resort.
We need to prep our old bones in a spa and ready myself for Game three the next night with PontiacDad and Mom in Salmon Arm at the base of Shuswap Lake.
They live within stumbling distance of the Holiday Inn. I'm sure we can entice them into the pub to cheer on the Vancouver Canuks when they beat Boston....again.
The next leg of the tour ends at the Banff Springs Resort. A veritable castle in the Rocky mountains. Yes I'm bringing my Grizzley bear spray! Don't want any scratches on my car.
We arrive at Spruce Grove and will be there with constant visits to the West Edmonton Mall for two weeks.
I will probably be spending the better part locked in her garage trying to fix the Grizz (94 SSEi), most of you know the story's of that car.

......and I thought I was finally free from it.......stayed tuned as there will be a separate thread develop on the process of reserrection.
The current plan is to leave Edmonton near the end of June and stay a night in Jasper, then off to Kamloops for a night, Vancouver for a night and then back home.
Although I love to move quickly, I like to take my time and stop frequently. Typically travelling no more than 5-6 hours a day, exploring the stops, and getting a good night rest.
Be sure I'll be taking lots of pictures.
22 days
That will give us two whole weeks to rest up before WCBF11.

The mountains are glorious. It's like a hundred Mt. Shasta's and Mt. Bakers rolled together.
The highways are fantastic. Windy and straight mixed together. My mileage was terrible but I had more fun that way.
This is the closest that the Bullet has ever come to the snow! The roads were dry though.
We are now in Edmonton at my daughters place.
Yes she is almost due to have our first grandchild.

Happy to say, I have been to all of those places, a year ago I was at the Loza's. Very nice city Salmon Arm is, would love to live there.
Gotta go to the Grimrod pub though, good times.
Enjoy Edmonton!

So, are you a grandfather yet?

Actually tomorrow would be a nice day for it to happen.

We're still here waiting for it to happen. Her actual due date is June 23rd but she may be late.
She's home birthing and doesn't want us here when it does happen so we will probably have to go to the Fantasyland Hotel for a night.
I hope it happens soon so at least we can see it before we leave next Saturday.
Meh, even if we don't get to see him I don't think we'll miss much. They are so totally mother dependent for the first few months.
By Christmas it would be better.
I think I'll just go out into the garage, which I have turned into a man cave and work on the car.....

He's due home here any moment.
Laura and I have cleaned and organized everything in preparation for his arrival.
.....Laura, pass me another Kokanee!
Two nights should be enough. We leave here early Saturday morning for Jasper.

It was quite an experience for them.
She went into labour the night before and wanted us to leave right away....but we packed and decided to sleep there that night and leave first thing in the morning because her pains were just beginning.
She was intent on doing a home birth and had a pool set up in the living room.
We were awakened at about 5:30 am and she was screaming at us......."are you still HERE!!"
We left right away and spent the day at the West Edmonton Mall buying stuff and caught a 3D movie.
Spent that night at a Best Western and lounged in the steam room and hot tub. They had a water slide too. That was fun.
She was having fun too. Thrashing around in her little birthing pool. LOL. She was a trooper and lasted 12 hours before succumbing to the 45 minute drive to the hospital for the final 8 hours.
We went back the next day when she came home with our grandson. We got there before they arrived. Cleaned up the house and ordered dinner.

Canadian gauge clusters give me a headache
Personally, they make my pulse race.
The American ones that end at 140 make me sick.
Mine was seeing 200 most of the day today.
What a great ride down Hwy 5 from Jasper to Kamloops. Most of the way a BMW 750Li was dogging me trying to pass.....but I didn't let him.
Very little traffic and no patrols at all.
6 hour drive took me 4 hours and we stopped twice to tour some hot springs.
