Correct TPS sensor output for 90 Olds 88 w/3800

Talk about the other 3800 powered GM cars, particularly for items not covered in other sections that may be unique to your year/model, and differ from a Bonneville.

Correct TPS sensor output for 90 Olds 88 w/3800

Post by andx0r »

So, a while back I replaced a bad throttle position sensor on this car, not bothering to adjust it properly because I was in a hurry. I just got it so the car wasn't idling at a bazillionty RPM and left it.

So, earlier today I finally went ahead and adjusted it. The car is working well enough, certainly better than before. I adjusted it to about .47V idle and I think it was outputting about 4.6V at full.

At the time I was just going by what I *thought* I remembered GM throttle sensors of that era outputting, but really I just pulled them from my rectum.

I can't seem to find any reliable sources for the correct output voltages on the internets (or the search function here. Maybe I just suck at searching.) so I'm turning to you guys...what should I have adjusted it to? Do I have it right already?

Thanks! Any help is appreciated.

You're about right. 0.5 volts at idle is typical.
