Hello,
Picked up a 2003 Bonneville last September from a friend with a rod knock. (Think they changed the intake gaskets too late.) Drove from Columbus, OH and made it to Richmond, IN and the motor locked up. Ended up busting no 2 connecting rod cap.

Anyway, found a donor motor and swapped out the bottom end and just got it going earlier this week (been too cold in the garage ;) ).

116,000 miles. 1st owner drove on the highway for over 100,000 miles and then sold to his nephew that put on more city miles.

Mods: K&N filter, 3.5 inch s/c pulley.

Already used the site to help me on an air conditioning problem. Thanks.

Welcome from another 2003 SSEi owner!!!

Did it have the 3.5 on it before you got it? I could tell you why the rod went if that's the case. Also, you said you swapped the bottom end, meaning you did a full rebuild? Should've just done a complete engine swap, lol.

Do tell Beast. I assumed it was because he just had the intake manifolds leaking and didn't fix it for about 500 miles and it got antifreeze in the oil?

It came with the 3.5 pulley, but I also have the stock pulley.

I just swapped bottom end from a similar mileage car. No new bearings or piston rings. Had planned to sell the car, but it's so nice I've decided to keep.
