Bottom Window Trim Cracked

There is a strip of matte black trim that lines the bottom of the windows, on top of the doors that have cracked on my car. When this trim cracked, it has allowed water (and road salt) to corrode the metal underneath it. So while most of the black trim is there, the rust underneath is showing through the cracks.

Is there any solution to this? I can post pics if needed.

Well, you can cut and stick black vinyl over it: viewtopic.php?f=14&t=235&hilit=matte+black

...or repaint it. Personally, I removed the trim piece and wetsanded it until smooth. Then I primered, painted, and then clearcoated them. It looks good. If the plastic is beyond repair or missing, you can also remove it and paint the bare metal.

Pics would help a lot. If it's really bad harofreak00 would probably sell you one that's at least in good physical shape.

Pictures are in the rain. Rain doesn't seem to want to stop here in the St. Louis area.

The black portion is like a brittle plastic that breaks off in pieces, with silver metal underneath.

So what do I do? Do I peel off the cracking vinyl and sand the metal underneath?
