it was either $600 to repair/repaint the hood herpes on the SLE or $40 (eBay) for a lip bra. I think it looks good this way, opinions please................................
I'll try and get some daytime shots tomorrow seeing that the weather is supposed to be awesome again.

Get it painted, then put use that on trips and stuff. I'm considering getting one of those too, but to protect my hood once it gets repaired AGAIN.

Not bad... Better than a full bumper cover.
I actually did the same on my old Bonneville after it got totaled, instead of paying to get a new hood, just covered up the damage with a bra...
If you are planning on getting it fixed tho, make sure you take it off and clean underneath it regularly.

thanks for the tip.
I actually do plan on having it on for awhile, so I'll make sure to do that. Probably wouldn't be until tax time next year that I'll try getting the hood repaired/replaced.

There would be absolutely no reason to replace the hood. Sanding it down and getting it re-painted will be the ticket.
Is the hood chipped up or is it doing the typical "hood herpes" and like looking like a big scab?

No prob, just speaking from experience, when i had mine I didn't take it off and clean under it ever, pretty much because it was damaged already and i didn't really care. But after being on there it stained the hood, and started to rust. My mom had one on her car, took it off every time she washed it. Paint looked great after like 8 years of it being on...

PUT CLEAR BRA ON NEW PAINT!
And definitely take off the leather one to wash. Shouldn't have an issue with it if you keep it clean.

Right, when we put the bra on the '93 I kept it clean. Remove it completely and wash the car, and scrub the bra down with some warm water. However I told my brother to take the bra off when he washes the car. I had a feeling he wasn't and sure enough just a few months of it's obvious he hasn't been and now the bra has ruined the paint on the hood, bumper cover and fenders. You only have the hood portion so it won't be terrible. But you just don't want to trap dirt under it.
It'll look alright though, obviously the best looking option would be no bra, but that'll do for now.
