As of this monday my moms car has been running really rough. She has a horrible track record of owning cars that fall apart and now her aurora seems to be doing the same thing.
I went to her work to have a look at the car, she thought something was wrong with the exhaust... unfortunately she was wrong...
I popped the hood and noticed it was running really rough, something the 4.0 never does... and when I checked the dipstick it was covered in white milky stuff.
She has already had the UIM replaced as it was cracked so I can't imagine they would have reused the same gasket there, but what about the LIM gasket or the head gasket? I heard somewhere that the 4.0 doesn't usually blow head gaskets, but I know these motors have problems past 100,000 and hers is at 115,000.
Unless its some easy fix (is it ever with a northstar?) it's pretty much a goner as there is no way we are dumping a few grand into this aurora, but it would be nice to have some idea of what it would take to fix it.

Meh, with it being a northstar that risk is always there. I'd be willing to bet it's a headgasket.
Bye Bye:

she drove to the lot where it died right before she parked. She rolled into the spot and bought the 08 Malibu 2lt we test drove day before.
$15500, 30,000 miles, loaded to the gills. She is very happy.

Probably blew the studs on the head, releasing the bolt pressure. Not a headgasket. N*'s, especially older ones had head stud problem. There was one Caddy place that developed and sold re-studding kits that were infinitely better than OEM.
