Thinking of a Bonneville, rather than my Taurus

Don't get me wrong, the Taurus is a good car, but I'm a GM guy (Pontiac specifically), and I've always had a soft spot for the 92-99 Bonneville. Not long ago we got my Fiance a 2010 Impala, and I love it! I want my own version of the same thing! Bonneville is the perfect fit!

As for my personal info, I live in Spokane, WA, have for a little more than a year, but before that I was in the Air Force for 10 years. Strangely enough, I began in Arlington, WA before the AF.

My goals for my Bonnie, though i don't even have one yet, is a 3800 series 2 making at least 300 hp. I don't really care if I have to get the supercharged or if I can do it N/A. I will likely be combing the tech section quite a bit once I get mine, looking for ways to make more power, keep reliability, and hopefully lose as little fuel efficiency as possible. Mods that don't suck any more gas until I mash the go pedal are going to be my best friends!

Anyway, it's nice to meet you all, and I expect I'll be getting to know at least a few of you. Is there anyone who happens to be in Spokane, or one of the nearby cities? Info and friends with similar interests are both great things to have!

Welcome!!

Your 300 HP goal would be much easier to attain using a Supercharged motor. It'd be much more street-able. You'd still need a cam, headers and tune, as well as the other supporting mods.

Horsepower is almost a false goal. These engines are known for their torque more than their horsepower. The HP numbers are deceiving in that manner. Find another V6 with the torque peak and curve to match an L67. And good luck finding one.

You know, you've got a point! I test-drove an N/A Bonnie today, and it DEFINITELY outperformed my Fiance's 2010 Impala, despite the Impala's 211hp rating!

I sure hope you bought it then. I'm a GM guy to the bone and between a Taurus and Bonneville....I'd choose the Bonneville quicker than a Northstar ;)

By the way, great having you here! I'm new too and I'm on my 2nd Bonnie and 3rd 3800 car (my first was a Reatta :D )

Not sure what you mean by Taurus v Bonneville and Bonneville v. Northstar. The N* is a GM engine, and was put in the 04-05 Bonneville GXP.

It was a lame attempt at a joke, lol. I was referencing the Northstar's perceived reputation as a "quick" engine. It had nothing to do with the Taurus. Sorry, lol :P

I would pick my Bonneville over anything else out there. I am and forever will be driving a Bonneville. I'm planning on buying a 96-99 SSEI model so i can build a sleeper.
