air shock question?

hey guys. well i finally took care of my cars issues when i got my new tires so i could get a nice dead on alignment.
so i replaced my front driver side wheel bearing, both front sway bar links, and the rear air shocks. got the best brand of everything from NAPA.
so heres a little explaning b4 my question... i remember b4 i changed the shocks, if i would turn the key to the "ON" position with the car not running, after about 20-30 secs i would hear the air compressor run for about 8 secs and then turn off. same thing after u start the car, the compressor would cycle for about 8 secs, 20-30secs after it was started.
well after i was done with the install, i did the same test. but now when the compressor came on it did not turn off(took longer then b4, but didnt wait too long). so i went over my install and checked the air line nipples, cleaned of some rust and did it again. still didnt turn off. so then i thought about waiting to see if it ever does turn off. well about 45 secs later it finally did turn off. so i tried it again. key "off" and then "on" again, when the compressor came on it still stayed on for much longer then b4. like 45 secs to a min. then i thought to myself well there could be a line leak(theyre plastic and commonly break/crack) so i should just wait to see if it comes back on. so i waited after it shut off the first time and it did come back on again and ran for about the same time.
so my question is, what the hell is wrong? lol. if anything. i mean my new shocks are SLIGHTLY thicker then the stock ones i removed.... i just dont want my compressor to burn up and have to replace that too.
