I have a '00 Bonneville SSEi with the automatic climate control. It works fine but I've noticed that if I set the temperature at 72 the air blows cool. I have to crank it up to at least 80 before the air feels warm. Has anyone encountered this and found a solution?

I noticed this when I first got my car and I just learned to live with it. The temp setting is kinda silly. To get the car hot inside, you have to have it at 90°, as 85° won't do it.

They must have adjusted their tuning between 00 and 03 then. I can set my heater at 74 and it will get plenty hot in my car.

Have to have mine set at least to 78 to get any decent heat.

Mine's never anything but 90 either, kind of annoying.

I think we've just established that the climate control was slightly revised in 2003...interesting.

Hey...whiners...at least you don't have the 1992-1999 ECC... you want to talk about nightmares? Three words... Air Mix Actuator.

Either that or I'm just weird, LOL.

I seem to recall it working better than this, but considering the car has 318,000 miles on it and the dreaded gas-filler cancer, I think I can live with it. It's nice to know that others are experiencing the same issue.

I'm going to shift gears here, does anyone know where the air compressor for the rear suspension is located? I pulled the trunk liner out on the passenger side and could not find it. I also checked under the rear seat and didn't see it there either.

Mounted under the rear of the car, near the passenger side muffler.

318,000?! That's insane man. My goal is 354k, to beat the current standing record, but you might beat me there! lol

The car is still running strong so I am hoping it will last a while longer. It was my wife's daily driver until last week (she drives 400 miles a week!) I upgraded her to an '07 Buick CXS and I get the Bonneville as my car now. Although I do a lot of driving, I don't put on as many miles as she does so you may beat the record before I can. Quite a bit larger and more comfortable than my Corolla! Of course, I also get to do all the maintenance that I couldn't get done because she needed the car every day.

Does your outside temperature register correctly?

My outside temperature works correctly, although I had to replace the sensor last summer. I have noticed that when the engine temperature gauge reads about 200 (rather than 180), then the heater seems to be working better. Probably time to replace the thermostat as it takes a long time for the engine to warm up to that level.
