FP / Ignition Fuse

Hello Guys,

I have a problem with the fuel pump fuse which blew up a second time in a week period.
The fuel pump was old and was already giving me grief, so I had it changed as a precaution -> The car would take a couple seconds to start instead of starting right up. This part seems ok right now.

Based on the fact that the fuse blowing up is an intermittent failure, this is probably a loose cable somewhere. Both times it happened when starting off from a light. Therefore I am thinking of a cable in the vicinity of the engine.
But, obviously, I have no obvious exposed cable.

The last time something similar happened to me (on another vehicle) I was lucky enough to have the fuse blow all the time, allowed me to narrow my search pretty quickly after a few of them breaking. In the current situation, I would need to travel for miles before it would (maybe) fail again, which is fairly unsafe.

If anyone had that experience or has heard of a known defect that would blow the fuel pump fuse, I am all ears.
The car is a 1995 Pontiac Bonneville SSEi.

Thank you for your help.

Problem with what guy? What problem?
What grief did the fuel pump cause?
What intermittent failure?
What fuse blew?
What fuse?

I have no clue what you're talking about. I have bits and pieces of a story with no specifics. Please start at the beginning and be as factual and accurate as you can.

Sorry Will,
I have updated the initial post to be more specific.
Thank you for your time.

The oil pressure sender/switch is also on that circuit. We've seen a few of these fail & blow that fuse.

I've gotten some news. It was not the oil pressure switch, but the wires were completely exposed around the connector area. It took me a while to figure it out because it was all hidden under electrical tape.
The big clue was that it became a hard short after I actually touched it.

It will take me a couple more days to get the new connector, cut and connect the cables correctly in order to finally get everything back on the road again.

Thank you again for pointing me in the right direction.
