do transmissions learning driving habits? reason i ask is that i think the previous owner of my car drove hard because when i get on it it shifts so smooth you cant feel it shift but when i drive normal 1st-2nd is kinda rough, its been that way since i bought it.

my old 96 was kinda like that, I put in an adjustable trans modulator and it fixed it, they are only about 30 bucks and take all of 2 minutes to change. Just be sure that its not slipping or anything prior otherwise it will just mask the real issue,

99's don't use modulators.

Idk, they kind of do "learn" driving habits, but not really. I think this sounds more like a goofy PCS. I suggest running a can of SeaFoam TransTune through the trans for 100 miles or so, doing a pan drop, filter and shift kit then buttoning it up and refilling with Vavoline Max-Life ATF.

X2. Get a TransGo shift kit, and do a cooler-line flush to the MaxLife ATF. You'll need about 14 quarts. Doing that about eliminated my Buick's PCS problem.

Other(more probable) possibilities are:
1, Broken 1-2 accumulator spring.
2, Worn accumulator piston/seals or guide shaft is leaking apply pressure.
good luck,
Kevin.

TransGo shift kit would fix #1, and a new gasket would fix #2. Or, get Intense's shift pak for fixing both.
