Ok Guys I replaced my rear air shocks and now Im getting a little clunking noise from the right rear. I torqued them to what they were supposed to be at when I installed them. What could the problem be. Its really bothering me...Thanks for all the input

Sounds like a bad shock mount. Get a Moog one, the others are junk.

That's a great video, that's what I imagine is going on with mine! There is a gap between the rubber and the concave washer when the car is at rest, just like in the video.

What I don't understand is what is actually broken and how this will correct it. I haven't been able to find a good picture anywhere.

The rubber inside that mount you linked has collapsed. Don't get Gabriel or Monroe mounts, they don't last. Get the Moog's.

Thanks, that is helpful. I think I understand what has happened now. And that's a nice code to have, too!

The shocks were replaced about two years ago when my parents still had it, I believe they are okay. The mounts should have been changed at the same time.

I should really check the shocks, though. It would not be much fun to change the mount and find out that the shocks were bad.

Ah, you didn't mention that. Definitely replace the mounts, give the shocks a good look over.

FWIW keep this in mind if you are not solving the clunk with new shocks or shock mounts... I chased clunks in the rear for years, replacing bushings, and shocks and mounts several times until I found this post:

Once I added an additional washer under the body mount bolt heads all clunks and rattles completely disappeared for good.

In the interest of I can get the mount now (no garage and nice weather ), I ended up getting a Monroe mount from Partsource yesterday. Replacement took about 45 minutes. The only thing that gave me a short pause was unhooking the air line to make the shock short enough to get the old mount out.

The shock looked okay and it was still holding air.

And now the noise is gone!

I'm off to the other problems now, that pesky service engine soon light is on.
