I love my Lincoln. **update**

On the way home last night, snapped a ball joint in the middle of a turn, right on Division, the main drag in St Cloud.

Then my amazing tow truck driver backed into my turn signal

Image

Finally got it rigged up enough we could pull it into the Burger King parking lot and hook it up right.

And here is how it sits now.

So total damage, ball joint needs to be replaced, of course. Tow company broke my turn signal lense, pulled the bottom of the grill out of place, tore both my inner fenders out, and ripped half my lower valence off the bumper. Needless to say they will be getting a call tomorrow.

Ouch dude, that sucks. I agree, that towing company better man-up for their mistakes.

I don't even see where they would want to tow it with a wrecker, common sense tells me to put it on a rollback, right?

It definitely wouldve been easier instead of two tow wreckers....

sounds like a couple of :tool: 's to me

Maybe the wrecker was the only thing available? I know where I used to work we used the wrecker way more than the roll back. It's way easier to hook up a car on the wrecker, especially on streets, etc.

At least you got pics clearly showing what the tow company did. I don't think they can argue with that.

I bet it was a "lubbed for life" ball joint.
Have you ever greased it?
.....and you like to lean in the turns with that heavy front end don't you?

Usually the tow drivers are responsible for damage. You may have to sue and prove no damage prior to the tow. :angry7:

Hope you get the reimbursement easy from the Tow Company. I love that Town Car, infact it's my favorite of all time. Is it Sport Package equipped? If so that "boat" actually handles really well. Those body were actually the fastest Town Car ever made. Forgot the specific year, but it holds best 0-60 in 1/4 times IIRC.

I have never greased them, only had the car for about 8 months and I was under the understanding that the car was serviced before I got it.

My car doesn't have any sport package, but for the beast that it is it takes the curves pretty good. I have read that the Panther bodies were cited really bad for poor handling and acceleration but I don't see a whole lot of problems, I mean it's a 5500 lb car after all.

GVWR printed on your door is NOT your vehicle's weight. That's what you can load it out to. Your town car weighs 4041lbs.
Handling has been improved over the years through various upgrades, most notably around the 2000-era IIRC.

Oh, ok, well, it's still heavy lol. I'm not that worried about it, as soon as the ball joints are fixed she's on the block. I'm tired of dealing with this car.

Towncars are a handful, especially when they get old, yes. They are outstanding cars though.

The towing company agreed to fix the damage. He is gonna find a turn signal lense for it, and he said once I fix the ball joint for me to take it to their shop and he would fix all the damaged parts. He was pretty cool about everything, and was glad to take care of it.

There are some honest, good people left in this world...I've learned that.

You can't drag a car with a broken ball joint up onto a flatbed in the same sense you can't push it straight on the street really, it pretty much has to be on the dolly like that.

That's a BAD place to lose it though, thankfully school's out and not as many people are in town!

Yeah, I was blocking the right hand turn lane on Division and the far right lane on 33rd. It was pretty crazy.
