So I replaced the driver side front wheel bearing. It was bad. The sensor was fine. Never had the ABS/TRAC lights on before.... I bought the following from Oreillys:

Well it was not liking the sensor, lights on the dash, after pulling the code it pointed toward driver side front. I replaced it again with the same one. Same problem.

Is this not compatible with my car or something?

I haven't had them bad out of the box, but have run into them failing within a couple of months. I ended up buying a couple from Intense, and those have been fine. I believe the only difference between the first and second design is the clip that holds on to the backing plate.

yeah, the first lasted 1 week, the 2nd lasted 2 days...I was thinking maybe they do not work with the stability control system or something? maybe they are designed for an SE?

I got a timken from Rock Auto and it's been fine for a few months now. I would get one, swap it, and take the one back to O'Reilly's.

I just recently replaced both front wheel bearing in my '00 SE. When my mechanic was getting the wheel bearings, he was telling me how the cheaper ones will trip the abs and tire pressure lights because the electronic wheel speed sensor in the cheaper bearings counts a different number of splines. I bought two of the more expensive bearings from NAPA and they work great, also they come with lifetime warranties so it's definitely worth paying a little more.

These have lifetime warranty as well, however I don't see how it could "count a different number of splines" I would think it would not work at all then as the ABS-PCM would have issues there with the perceived speed.

Since I already spent $100 on this one, Is perhaps the 1st generation better? I'm trying to figure out which one to purchase from there..I imagine they will let me swap for a different one at this point, just need to know which part number I guess.

Parts guy thinks that the plastic clip version I have for the wheel speed sensor is the problem.

I will be swapping the "Generation 1" version as soon as it starts raining..looks like it will be a week or so. It is supposed to have the "metal clip" for the wheel sensor.

The theory is that the metal clip grounds it somehow, but I don't see how this would make sense. Its only a 2 wire connector.

My mechanic wasn't too descriptive about it, but he basically told me that the cheaper ones don't work and the more expensive ones do. Something to do with the wheel speed sensor. Here are the part numbers from NAPA. Cheaper one that doesn't work: PGB PBR930548K. Expensive ones that do work: BRG BR930548K.

I have the "design 2" bearings for my car, and they don't ground through the clip, it's a plastic clip that holds it in the bracket. No grounding through plastic...
