A few opinions needed

Ok, well I was looking at my trunk earlier today and began to think... I could really pack some major bass into it, I was thinking maybe two 15" L7s in the middle of the back, then the two 12's I have now to the left and right behind the lights and maybe a few small subs in the middle of them, or maybe just the 4 subs with the amps mounted where I would have the two extra subs.

Opinions, thoughts, and tips? Please!

How about the two L7's in a box pushed up against the backseat and your amp(s) mounted behind the lights. Saves space and is simple to achieve

I could, but then I would have to get rid of what I have now, idk, it was just a thought, one I'd probably never act on, lol.

Two 12's and two 15's are overkill IMO

Two 15's should be enough.

I've heard two 12's in a 2000 SSEi trunk and the base is awesome.

I'd never do either cause I need all the trunk space for luggage.

I do want to add a separate amp for the rear deck 6x9's. A set-up that has worked in my Firebird for the last 30 years and sounds much better than the Bose system in the Bonne.

That was another idea I had, getting 2 single channel amps and powering the subs with one, and the 6x9s with the other, the amp I have now for the subs is a 2channel amp, which frankly, it sucks and doesn't push enough wattage to put my subs to their full use.

You need good strong clean power! Don't skimp on the amp(s). :beerchug:

Well, I bought it as a set, the subs and the amp mounted on the box, so I can't complain, but I need an upgrade for sure, I'm hoping I didn't fry it though =\

A pair of 15's, plus a pair of 12's, plus some other "small subs" is amazing bass-overkill. What exactly is it you're wanting to achieve? It's good to have a goal. Even extreme goals are a personal choice, but think about it and decide what it is you really want to achieve, then let us know and we can give you good advice on the best ways to achieve that. By that, I mean things like this:
If your goal is to reproduce -accurately- finely crafted recordings of popular or classical music, then all those subs are way too much.
If your goal is to win competition trophies for highest SPL ratings, then you might need all those subs.
If your goal is to impress your friends with having the most subs fit into a trunk, that too might warrant all those subs.
If your goal is to have really clean and really loud overemphasized bass and still enjoy the use of your car, then you could achieve that with fewer subs and still have (some) trunk space left over to carry groceries/body parts/etc.

But decide what you want to achieve first, otherwise it's really hard to say "Yes, put all those subs in there" or "No, don't."

Also, using a single channel amp to power your 6" x 9" speakers strikes me as odd, -there's stereo running to those. Were you wanting to combine L+R and go mono in the rear?

There's no need to and you really shouldn't mix sub sizes like that, stick with 1 size, usually 15's for for big sloppy loud bass, 10's for punchy rock, or 12's are middle of the road mix. If you want it louder instead of dealing with spending money on all those subs, just spend it better subs and you'll be much happier. Loudest car I ever had was an old corsica with the back seat removed and a wall with 4 12" JL Audio W3v2's. That's a lot of sub for a decently small car. My current setup is only 2 12's in the trunk of a MUCH larger car and i'm only like 1 dbish shy of where I was at, got w6v2's (yeah ever since my w3's i got addicted to JL and had a few sets subs in between but in the end I came back to JL and it's treated me very well :))

I wouldn't do that.

First off, don't mix sub brands and sizes like that. It's just wrong. You don't need tons of subs and power to get loud. What you need is a good quality sub and amp, and a properly designed and built enclosure. A well made ported enclosure will get quite loud, even with one or two subs. I never understood stuffing as many subs as you can in a trunk car. To do that, you usually have to run them sealed. If you're looking for loud, ported is the way to go. You're not going to fit more than 2 12s or maybe 2 15s in your trunk in a properly sized ported box.

If you're unhappy with your 12s now but don't want to spend tons of money, start with getting an amp that will give the subs their combined RMS power. Then, either build a proper box yourself, or find someone to build you one (don't buy a prefab ported box on ebay or something...they're crap). Those two things alone might make you more than happy.

Or, ditch the stuff you've got now and upgrade your subs/amps. I wouldn't get Kicker, though. You can do better for the price. Look into brands like Sundown Audio, Incriminator Audio, AudioQue, DC Sound Labs, Fi, SSA etc. You'll get more bang for the buck.

I've been thinking, and I'm gonna get a better single channel amp and hook it up to see if that will help, I've got Eclipse subs with an eclipse 2 channel amp, which is where my problem is, it's too weak to power the two subs, so i think it's time for an upgrade, any suggestions as to amps?

Depends on what you want to spend and how much power you need. What are the exact model subs you have? You need to know the impedence and power handling in order to know what kind of amp to get.

There are plenty of amps out there. Personally, I have Sundown Audio in my Bonneville.

Honestly... idk, I didn't buy them new, and the person I bought em from didn't know, anyway to tell on the subs themselves?

If you have a DMM you can hook it up to the sub's terminals to find the resistance (impedence) of the sub. Also, if you pull the sub out of the box it might have the model printed on the motor/basket.

*dang*, one 10" sub (Focal/JL Audio setup) in the back rattles my trunk hood. :eek2:

Once I find out the impedence, what else do I need to find out to help you out?

maybe somebody in the daily industry can back me up or correct me on this, but if you buy new amp(s) you'll need to pay attention to the voltage input 2-3-5. i went with a friend to buy a h/u and asked for some 5v preouts. was informed the new amps are coming out accepting low voltage inputs. just a thought if youre buying new and im hoping somebody can add to,verify, or correct me.
