In a stock car is a FWI even noticeable? Compared to a gutted air box is there any difference?

for a cheap (free) mod, the gutted airbox is good. it will give you a into to supercharger whine without it being overly evident. if the plan is to stay stock, it is the one I would recommend.

Yes. You'll draw cooler air than a gutted airbox, and the air will be more laminar. More air can be delivered to the TB that way, with less 'lag' from the throttle stab. You'll feel it more in throttle response than in actual horsepower, but in the summer, you horsepower will be up just in terms of cooler air delivery.

Has anyone heard of or installed one of these? http://www.grandprix.net/upgrades/fwi/
Appears to be one of the first fwi made. Looks like the IAT hole might just be out of reach.

Don't do that one, it just sucks in hot engine bay air.

I bought an Intense Level 1 kit and installed the FWI first. Most worthwhile mod I've done. And yes, I had a gutted box before I installed the FWI. No comparison.

How does that one suck in hot engine air? If you look it is just able to be configured 2 different ways. At least that is what I think.

Oh, I just kind of skimmed it, lol. I looked on PFYC, and they didn't list it. I'd get the Intense Kit. Support those who support our site. Plus, rubber heats up much slower than metal does.

I am not interested in the intense kit. By the time it got to my door it would be well over $200. Just wondering if anyone has used the one I posted or just by looking at the pics can tell if it looks like a quality unit? I can't find any information on it and assume it's not sold anymore.

I dont see anything wrong with that one, except us 2000+ guys dont have as wide an open as GP cars do.

thats our hole as you can see on my car. so if you feel like you could make that bend, go for it.

Oh, and you can buy IAT extensions.

The GP kit won't fit your car without more cost.

The GP kit is aluminum. When you install it through the hole in your fender, you could get false knock (that was the problem with the JMB).

Aluminum heats up far faster than the INTENSE rubber tubing.

INTENSE's FWI is also a larger filter and a larger diameter. It's a seamless fit as well, designed specifically for YOUR car. And proven over and over not only on this Forum, but a dozen others.

Great picture thanks gumball. That would be a very tight fit for sure, probably wont fit. Looks like I will wait for an intense kit to come up locally or piece one together. Thanks for all the info so far guys.

I found this surfing posts on this topic. Where would one get a headlight like this one from 2000silverbullet, or the parts to make one to help even more with a CAI?

I made it out of a stock headlight and some spare Plexi glass I had around the garage, plus some fillers and stuff from work, it probable took me well over 30hrs of total work to make, and I'd Never make one again unless I was paid Large $

I think that one will stay one-of-a-kind.. (I'd be SHOCKED if you can find someone to make one like it and still retain full function in ALL the bulbs)

-or just make one. It's just 2 wires. I took a dead computer power supply and cut off around a foot long section of a hard drive power connector wiring. I cut the IAT connector wires around 5 inches back from the IAT connector, then spliced in the wires as extensions. That's all it takes, you don't need any special hardware.
