So I have had my current system in my car now for a good 3-4 years. I have some issues with it and now with better weather coming I am able to start to fix these problems. One of the issues is my front door speakers. Instead of sticking with the factory size I got 6.5" in. Now I had a shop put my system in, which was the mistake from the begining, and now since I have a bigger size then stock I don't have a speaker cover, the ones that came with speakers stay on some what but will fall off. I was wondering if I order this from crutchfield ( http://www.crutchfield.com/p_142SAC656/ ... tml?tp=919 ) would this allow me to put covers on or possibly the stock covers? Also the place that did the install screwed the speakers in with like 2" screws, that isn't right, at least I don't think so, with the adapter would this help that problem and what size screws should I use?

Next question is this ding noise. At first it never really bothered me but whenever someone gets in m car and I start it and it makes this ding ding ding ding noise and hearing them say whats that it now catches my ear and bothers me. Could this be the wire harness? I got the headunit installed at a reputable custom car place several years ago and they told me I needed some special harness that costed me a decent price. Is it the harness? what would I need to fix that?

Well, the ding is supposed to be there, it's part of the harness, just get used to it after awhile, it's the box on this http://images.sonicelectronix.com/image ... gmos09.jpg

It was always there, it's just more prominent now because it plays over the speakers and not from a speaker in the dash, IIRC.

And about the mounting of the speakers, someone more knowledgeable will have to chime in =\.

And if anyone else knows about the speaker issue that be great! I just got 4 door panels that I'll be swapping mine with so I want to do a new clean proper install on these.

01 SE should have 6.5 inch speakers in the front door shouldn't they? I know my 02 has 6.5 in the front doors.

Stock speaker size is 6.5, if your speaker covers aren't staying in place the little metal tab pieces on them are probably gone. Or the shop that did your install was lazy and didn't bother to remove the door panel at all and instead popped off the covers and swapped the speakers

I agree with this. I think you're going to find your answers when you take your door panels off. You'll discover what a hackjob most shops do, and you'll never trust your car to an audioshop again.

2" screws is really overkill. My advice is to hold off on buying any more parts or components until you get your door panels off and get a look at what your shop did, then carefully undo and address whatever damage they did. Let us know what you find.

Yea I think the shop didn't take the door panels of and just took old speakers put and put these in and screwed them in. To be honest I have no idea the proper way of putting them
in I thought that was the way lol.

Take your panels off, disconnect the wires then un screw the speakers. Probably will take 20 minutes to do both panels
