ignition coils

Post by redeyesbonnie »

i was wondering what you're guys opinions are on putting a series 2 supercharged ICM and coils on an LN3... Will it work? Do u think there are any gains from it... i know the supercharged coils put out a higher voltage, and that the gain in performance wouldn't be tremendous but i was just looking for opinions... Right now i have an ICM and coils out of a 97 bonneville NA, but found a set of supercharged coils and ICM for cheap. #-o

Not much if anything to be gained in performance, you probably will not see any improvement over just replacing the plugs and wires with new ones. Reliablility is about the only reason to change out the stock Magnavox brick-o-coils to a later model.

The Delco II does fire a bit hotter...

More than most we tell people to go to the Type II set up as you won't have to replace the pack if one coil fails... You'll be able to replace that coil.. Like curt said, reliability is also a factor..

We'll thanks for the input guys, redeyes already has the Delco II ignition but not the supercharged coils, it's an easy swap so i think i will just put them on in the summer...
