Simple power adders

Post by GeneraL67 »

Hey folks. as you know, im new here, and i have my firts L67. I've built a few of these motors in the past, but they were big builds... basicly, not one thing was stock. anyways, i dont want to go crazy on my SSEi due to the fact its just a DD, Ill be putting on a 3.4 pully, cooler plugs, CAI, magnaflow dual exhaust, and a heavy duty trans. cooler i have from my old modded corsica. what else can we do to these bonnys to get a bit more "go"? im more famillier with grand prixs, how much common ground is there? maybe another year MAF sensor? injectors? or just a simple tune? any info is good. thanks. -Jay

trade the cai for a fwi, then add 1.9 rockers to your list. you'll need the rockers for the 3.4

Put your hardware mods on, then get a tune shortly thereafter.

Dual exhaust will gain you nothing (especially with just a 3.5 pulley). Work on your exhaust manifolds, downpipe, and cat. Leave the rest for now, unless you want a different sound, then do the muffler. Our exhaust is pretty free-flowing on the back end.

A MAF sensor will make no difference until you change throttle bodies. You won't outflow your injectors with a 3.4 pulley, and changing them won't add any power.

I agree with sonoma_zr2. 1.9 rockers will be easy, and do a FWI. From there, the next step will be ported exhaust manifolds or headers, and a downpipe/cat. The tune should come after the changes.

Thanks i do like the 1.9 rocker idea.... I hear their expensive. I know a muffer wont do anything haha, im not a civic owner ;) i want the sound, just a nice groan. The other things i suggested are easy ways to cheat a 3400 SFI into more power, so i was just curious if it will work on the 3.8... guess not. Who does tuning? who has 1.9 rockers?
