2000 SSEi: Service Security System Message

Over the past week or so, I noticed the "Service Security System" message on occasionally while driving the car. No other lights are on at this time and the car is starting/driving normally. I replaced the battery a few months ago with an AC/Delco factory OEM unit. Any ideas what's going on? Thanks for the help.

It's one of those gremlins that shows up in the colder weather. There is a technical service bulletin for the problem. They will reprogram the vehicle theft deterant module so it is less sensitive to corrupted data. I just hit reset, and ignore it.

What and how do you reset?

Unless you want to pay the dealer to fix something super minor, just hit the reset button the DIC and be done with it.

Is there a reset on a 2001 Bonneville? I haven't seen it

If you have the DIC screen, like this:

Then to the right you'll have a select and a Reset button. If you have an SE, it won't have this option.

Not if you have an SE, only on the SLE/SSEi. But if you have an SE you wouldn't see the Service Security System in the first place.
