I work 2nd shift and was on my way home on a four lane highway, not a single car in sight, i kept looking to my right cause im always looking out for deer, one came from the center median, across the inside lane and hit the front driver side fender of my car and it flipped him over onto my hood where i was scared he was gonna come through the windshield but he didnt and just slid off the car, kept on running. Here are some pics:
My car is already in the shop and they gave me a 2007 Dodge Caliber for a rental car. Im just so glad that I didnt get hurt
Dang, that sucks, i am always worried about them too, my dad hit one with an intrepid he had through work, totalled it out

No, if you hit a deer, there is no deductable or at least less of it, because it is an act of god,but if you swerve, you have no evidence that the deer caused it, you could've just lost control. That's why my dad always tells me to brake as hard as i can, but never swerve for animals.

In drivers ed they teach you not to swerve because if you swerve you may loose control of the car and hit a tree ect. Thats how I was taught

I was told to accelerate just before hitting a deer, if I could not stop efficiently enough. That way the front end comes up and reduces the chance of the deer rolling up over the hood and through the windshield.

I have hit several deer on the roads, mostly in my company provided suburbans. Still, it is never fun. However, I am glad you are okay, with how the hood sits on those newer Bonnies, you were VERY lucky it didn't come through the windshield.
On another note, my last suburban from work had a head on with a moose. The moose won. (I wasn't driving that one at the time.) It had a total of almost $6k to the front end for damage, and we are talking a friggin' Suburban.

So I ask him, what would the right price be? He tells me about six grand. I shouted back Are you serious??? Nobody would pay that!!! With an old man evil grin, he smiles and says, I know.

This was actually proven false on Mythbusters.
Yes, I saw it, it was done with fake moose..but I'm sure the concept is the same. I wonder how accelerating would work if you literally have a split-second to do it...

Wasn't that a Grand Prix?

Yes it was (you can clearly see it in the pics - and that's what he said), but they both have that low wedge shaped hood. The same point would apply to both cars. It was lucky the deer didn't land in my lap that I hit last year.
I had animals like deer and such. I was driving down a paved kinda back country road and a pheasant jumped out of a patch of tall grass and starting flying full speed. It was one of those moments that you see it but are powerless to stop. Next thing I know THUMP, right into rear passenger door. In the end though I got it a lot worse then it got me. Small dent (tolerable) = dead pheasant.
screw hitting a deer id rather go in the ditch as long as theres no trees, etc. brake till the last second, then let off the brakes and steer away from it.
