Steering wheel cont. - Motorized volume control not working

I have a 2002 Park Avenue Ultra with 12 disc changer and steering wheel controls. The volume control on the steering wheel is not working. This is the motorized control that actually turns the knob on the head unit when the steering wheel button is pushed. I suspect that the drive motor in the head unit has died or is not getting power.
Does anyone have experience with these? Can they be repaired or is it easier to just replace the head unit?
Thanks

Do any of the other steering wheel controls work?

I have a working one for $30 if you want. I also have a non-working casssette for $10 if you want to try to swap parts.
CD/tape stereo = $30
tape stereo (broken tape stuck inside... for parts only) = $10

All other steering wheel controls work. The volume button (both up and down volume) is the only thing not working.
Thanks for the offers on the used stereos. Since mine is the 12 disc changer I would probably look for a direct replacement rather than trying to dis-mantle mine and replace the volume motor from another unit. I will decline for now but I do appreciate the offer.
