Has anyone here tried it? It's advertised as being 8x better than Mobil 1.

I've heard it's supposed to be Castrol's version of Mobil 1 EP.

There's a $15 rebate on it currently. http://www.castrol.com/castrol/sectiong ... Id=7055585 Can also be combined with the $10 Advance coupon. And guess who is having a sale on Edge for $25? Advance. Yep, potentially free (plus taxes/postage) Edge!

I was just on the Advance Auto website and found nothing about it being on sale or a coupon. Where did you get the coupon?

I got mine in the mail yesterday... :)

I seriously thinking of changing to this... after what happened to my engine with Mobil 1.

I found out about it when I went in to Advance to get the Purolater filters. Unfortunately, I had already bought some Valvoline SynPower so I didn't need the oil.

Oil keeps well. You should have bought some and saved it for next time.

I went ahead and got 5 qts of The Edge and a PureOne filter to change my oil Saturday morning before going to Virginia for the weekend for my niece's wedding.

Satisfied so far. Still gotta send in for the rebate. Printed it but just haven't gotten it done.
I know this is a long life oil but I think I will change at 5000 miles to check everything out.

BTW, when I chenged the oil this weekend, I checked the tip of the magnetic drain plug for and metal debris or residue and found none. Engine is super clean after rebuild.

Still dont understand why the #1 rod bearing spun and failed... :angry7:

Glad to hear the rebuild seems to have gone well. As for what happened, sometimes things happen that have no rational explanation. They just do.

No Advanced Auto in Calif.
Any other auto part stores have that $10 off coupon ?
Or is Advanced Auto part of some other parts store under another name ?

Advance and Parts America used to be one in the same. Not sure if that's still the case. Got any Parts America stores in CA?

It's not the case anymore, Advance barely has anything at all anymore

I took a look at the Castrol Edge oil at WallyWorld and they want $7.49 a qt., so that is still over $37 for 5 qt's. with the $15 off rebate. If I can find it on sale somewhere it might be worth it to get 10 or 15 qt's. I just have to use 2 or 3 addresses(one rebate per address). But $37+ for oil is to much for me to spend, I like it when I get M-1 on sale at Costco(get it for $3.00 per qt.)

What exactly do you mean by that? They just redesigned their entire website? Seem to be doing just fine?

And I'm still waiting for something to compare with Amsoil. And if I want "full synthetic" instead of actual PAO based 100% synthetic, Mobil1 is still on my list, right along with the known quality of Valvoline SynPower and Pennzoil Platinum.

What I mean by that, and I don't like to get off topic, so sorry to author, I'll make this fast. When Advance was linked with PartsAmerica it was due to another company, I believe called Checker Auto Parts, also. Whenever I looked up say "Water pump" for my car, I had like 7 choices, now there's literally one choice in every part, they've gone from the parts store with the most choices around here to the least choices, at least for my car.

CSK (Checker/Shucks/Kragen) Auto parts used to share thier online catalog with Advance. CSK was just bought by Oriely's and that's why Advance is no longer is working with them. BTW CSK stores are very common out west and Advance is barely heard of. On a side note CSK stores prices went through the roof, thier price beat garrantee went away, and thier service sucks worse than Autozone since the big O bought them.

As far as oil goes, with all the complaints of Mobile 1 nowadays I just switched back to Valvoline. It's cheaper and works great for me!

I have also switched to Valvoline and valvoline synthetic as opposed to M1
