Well I am visiting my gf in river falls which is in WI but close to the mn border. So today we decided to go to the Mall of America. Well after getting off of 94 we got on to 494 I believe it is. I got in the left hand land and once I was in the lane no more then a few seconds after I was in the lane. This car come flying up on the driver side on the emergency lane and was also in the ditch. I was doing the speed limit, and this lady hits my mirror ripping it off the car leaving it hanging and then scrapes up the front fender. I don't know how in the world this happened. But when I was turning in the lane I saw her, I had about 3 car lengths to work with so it wasn't like I was cutting her off, I was clearly in the whole lane before i got hit. Me and my gf saw the same thing so it wasn't her word vs mine really so that was good. She stoped in the dtich and nailed the breaks and got out right away and here she is on her phone. Sound about right cause we figured she was on her phone and was flying by and didn't realize we were in front of her and by the time she saw us it was to late so she swerved to try to save her can and wound up hitting us. Well the cop came in MN and took stuff down, I didn't get a ticket for anything but I couldn't find my insurance card while she was there so i have to get that citation taken care of when I get back to sheboygan. I just got a verbal warning for improper lane change even though I didn't do anything wrong. So i taped the mirror housing back up with no mirror in it. It will have to get replaced and some body work done. I have a 500$ deduct but idk we will have to see what the insurance company does and what not. I was very pissed but didin't get out to talk to the lady as I prolly would of just blew up at her and what not. Comments questions? Fire away! I will post pics when I get home. Also Do you think it would be easier if I have to pay the 500$ de duct to just get a new left front fender? Suggestions on that also would be good. Thanks guys and watch out lots of morons out there.

FYI when I had some drunk take out my fender/light/bumper it cost $1800 to get it all fixed. For the fender/mirror I wouldn't be suprised if they qouted you $900+ to install and paint. If you can find a fender and mirror housing that is black then go for it. Should be much cheaper that way.

Sorry about the wreck. I once got ticketed for an improper u-turn when some moron on her phone tapped my rear bumper and spun me around. I don't know how it was supposed to be my fault, but the cop and lady seemed to know each other.

Your $500 deductable will cover your used fender and mirror in color.
BTW -I wouldn't worry about paying for it though -in MN as long as the incident is how you told it, the lady who hit you will pay, or her insurance will. Hope you got her information to get in touch with her insurance.

It'll be expensive, that I know. SSEi mirrors are $400+ apiece, with the memory in it, plus paint, plus the fender and paint on that.

$400 new, but repair shops will use used parts.

For less than $1500 I had the bumper + two mirrors resprayed and refitted, and a new fender sprayed and fitted at a GM dealer.

Were you in Woodbury? I live a mile from 94/494 in Oakdale, and the section of 494 in woodbury is utter *shoot* with the lane blocked off, and no merging areas. Was she coming out of one of the construction areas? I had to go WOT to get out of a dump truck's way yesterday on that section of 494.

How many 2000+ Bonneville mirrors do you think are laying around? Especially SSEi ones.

As far as the black fender, it's probably the one off my black 00. It would still need paint.

Yea I called my insurance and what not and we will see what they say. The cop didin't tell me it was my fault. I am assuming the insurance companies will fight it out. Although its pretty clear who is at fault. I hope I have the numbers on my side me and my gf vs her so idk we shall see. Thanks for the info!

Yea we just got off of 94 and on to 494 and traffic was ok, could of been worse but we had a clear area so. We made our way over. IDK i mean i saw her when i checked my mirror and my blind spot and saw that I had plenty of room, and my gf said the same thing. I would have to bet that she was on her phone or something and not paying attention, they fly on that road that is 60 mph. It happened just before the construction started.

You can use a normal heated/power mirror, but it won't have memory functions. Rock Auto has them for like $60, and you can use the site discount. Shouldn't cost more than $40 to get it painted, and it's not too hard to install.

Well it looks like I am gonna be held liable for this accident how in the hell IDK. Total BS I guess thats what happens when your out of state maybe cop was nailing me IDK.

Oh *dang*, that sucks. When I was coming through there, in the 26' Penske, I remember that construction area..and even when I was merging at about 11:30 PM, I even had a problem with the traffic.

How are you liable?? She came by you on the left, and you have a witness stating that you had room, and didn't run this lady off the road. That's total bogus.

What?? It was her fault. I got screwed once, two of us were changing and I got hit after I was 2/3 of the way in the lane. They said the other guy was "established" first. Maybe thats why, who knows
