Oil in LIM in 16k mi (somewhat urgent)

If one's LIM on their 97 SLE were flooded half full (or half empty for some of you) with oil in 16k mi, would this signify that one's 16k mi old PCV valve is malfunctioning? Tore off UIM to re-torque LIM due to gradual coolant loss from overflow bottle and saw this. Leaving for MI tomorrow night and going thru car before we leave.

Your positive this is oil?

Could be a bad PCV... I would suggest an AC Delco PCV...

100% certain it's only oil. It's an AC Delco PCV, however, I just noticed that the PCV itself does not have an o-ring on it. Could that be a cause?

That could be part of the problem..

There will always be a little oil in the LIM... But the amount you have it a bit too much.. Get a New Oring and possibly replace the PCV with another AC Delco part..

Yeah I remember there being a bit of oil in there the first time I dove into this, but not as much as there is now. I'll bet it's all that O-ring. Wonder if that could explain the quart of oil that typically disappeared between every 4k oil change. Just hoping that re-torquing LIM cures gradual coolant leak (down to bottom of bottle in about 2 - 3 months). Thanks!

One quart in 4000 miles is not bad for any series II... Some are better some are worse.. But that could have a bit to do with it... If your consumption drops you'll know what was causing it...lol

Just a note... that PCV o-ring must have sealed things up because when I used to shut down I used to get a sound like loss of compression through the intake. Now it doesn't really make that noise anymore.
