If it ain't broke...

Post by spidey3479 »

Been reading about the trouble some have had with the LIM gaskets leaking. On the 01 SSEI, I am going to get my valve cover gaskets done to repair an oil leak, but I am not seeing any of the symptoms that others are seeing with the coolant leaking because of the LIM gaskets. Should I worry about that now or wait until symptoms arise?

If they are factory gaskets, they will more than likely leak due to the dex-cool eating them away. Its more a prevenative maintanance if you do not notice any coolant leaks, or coolant loss. I say just do em. :)

It's a good preventative maintenance step. If you wait for symptoms, it may be too late.

I agree w/ Archon. It's like changing your oil. You don't change your oil when it needs to be changed, you change it every 3k, so you have fresh stuff in there. Throw the GM aluminum gaskets in, and have peace of mind.
Bye Bye:

And by too late he means you are going to get coolant in the oil and spin a bearing and then you are up crap creek without a paddle.

Do it now, or you may lose your motor.
