Changed the fuel filter and oil pressure sending unit yesterday. Also replaced the thermostat with a 180° one and the spark plugs with AL 606 copper cores. Someone had put 41-102 iridiums in. Not only too hot but torqued them in pretty tight. All better now.
Wash it today.
But first I'm going to shoot some white lithium grease on this clunking steering shaft. lol

Put a new axle on the other side of the Passat yesterday. Did an almost 600 mile drive Sunday and the noise and shake of the bad axle was unbearable so I picked one up when I got back.

I put a master cylinder on the Grand Prix today. Can't drive it yet because I need somebody to help bleed the brakes which might happen tomorrow. I'm not in too much of a hurry to get it finished because I know there's probably something else going to break on it soon anyway the way things have been going with it.

Washed both cars then oil change and fixed the headlight adjuster on the Passat. Had to take the bumper off to fix the light. Then I pulled both cars in the street and took a picture.

Fixed a few scratches and rock chips in my front bumper and a small gouge in my rear bumper. 4 coats of 534F, 4 coats of clear with a hardener. Did the same with a few bubbles in the paint that had started under the fuel door. Did the whole front bumper.
Then I wet sanded the scratches in the clear on my hood and trunk lid with 2000 grit then 3000 grit trizac followed by polishing with meguiar's swirl remover 2.0 # 9, 1 coat of show car glaze # 7 polish, and finally 2 coats of ultimate liquid wax. Everything but what I painted.
This killed my weekend.
Hopefully I'll have time next weekend to cut and buff the new clear before anhydrous kicks off and I'm running 18 hour days.
I'll get pics of the showroom shine when that's done.

No you're gettin' it... :)

So, I hope mother nature gets a terrible yeast infection...

We were forecast to get about 1" - 3" of snow Sunday night, another 1" - 3" today, and another 1" - 3" tonight and into Tuesday. It was all doom and gloom and even a friend of the Wife who is a meteorologist at a Rockford TV station she used to work at, claimed about 7". So yesterday, I went and turned the torsion bars back up on the Suburban, put all my counter weight in the back and mounted the plow.

I come out this morning and Maaayyybeee an inch on the truck and the grass, and the driveway and court were that slushy/crusty accumulation... and it looks like the "storm" is petering out. Grrr... Right now, I didn't need to carry an additional 1,500 - 1,600 pounds on the truck. My driveshaft joints (the crosses) are shot and I haven't had a chance to replace them. If I could be as wrong as these a$$holes, I wouldn't have a job... That's one of the reasons I cranked DOWN the torsion bars a month or so ago. To take out any unneccessary angle in the drive line that would wear them more than they already were...

Well the good thing about the shot of nasty weather is it will give me another week reprieve before all he!! breaks loose with the farmers wanting anhydrous.

I was hoping for the 60F weather they were hinting at...30 and overcast. Guess I'll find something else to do than tinker with the car....

Changed the oil on the new RGC last night. Why is this a big deal? Because she was WAAAYYY over...

So Sunday, I get home and we go to dinner. I let her drive Mr. Daisy (Me) because I hate driving her vehicles, and truth be told, I REALLY don't like driving the new van. Just something about it. I like the old one sooooo much better. Anyway, as she's driving, a thought pops into my head... "it's been awhile since I changed the oil on this thing..." So I ask Mrs. Daisy to check Trip B, which on this van is what I use to track mileage between oil changes, since this van doesn't have the service reminder in the D.I.C. like the old one. So she does... It's now at 3,6xx miles since last oil change. She almost got strangled right then and there driving down Randall Rd. That is 6xx - 1,2xx PAST DUE!!! She argues that it's MY fault because it doesn't have the "Perform Service" reminder, and that I know where the keys are to come check it myself... WHATEVER!

I'd guess all the rental car companies that buy the new vans got sick of customers complaining that the light was on, so they just removed it on all vans, LOL. I seriously hate driving the new Chrysler vans, I've had a couple as rentals, and besides me barely fitting in the *dang* things, they were just awful to drive and uncomfortable.

It's a really nice van, but there just is something about it and I just can't completely pin point it. It's actually pretty fricken quick for what it is. Coming home last night, I played with a 94 - 96 Impala SS, and while I won't say I beat him, For the brief time both of us were going WOT, I was inching away... Then a PT Loser tried to tangle with me... Let's just say he got blown into the weeds. It's pretty friggen embarrassing when you have a piece of crap vehicle (like a PT Loser), and you pick a fight with something thinking you're gonna actually have a chance against, like a family appliance, only to get completely obliterated by said family appliance.

Three things I think that I can pin-point that I don't like though;
1) Getting in/out of the passenger side. I don't know if they shrunk down the upper door area, or what, but I feel I need to really duck my head to keep from smashing it on the roof as I get in.

2) This PentaStar V6, while quick like posted above, is to rev happy. Maybe that's more a function of the trans than anything, but even breathing on the throttle kicks it down a gear and winds the motor up to 4k. Add to that, the extremely touchy throttle (it's ETC like everything nowadays), and when I drive it after say the Suburban, obviously I'm pushing a little harder than need be and I'm rocketing off.

3) Handling. It seems very numb and vague. Kind of overboosted. The old van has that very weighty, tight "road feedback" feeling to it. Mind you I'm not talking about athletic vehicles here, but I think you know what I mean.

Put radiator #3 in the old RGC Saturday.

This van is just falling apart too quickly. Either rust or just plain out falling apart. This thing is rusting through worse than my 18 year old Suburban.

It had been seeping for the last month. But decided to open up just as I got it to the other house where I have my garage. This is how much came out in the time to put it in park, and get out.

In the last couple of weeks I have done all of the following to the Yukon:
Replaced all 8 spark plugs (not fun on the Passenger side)
Replaced both front interior door handles due to chrome flaking off and becoming razor sharp
Replaced RF exterior door handle, old one had something broken and was loose and wobbly
Replaced backseat armrest covers that break and look like crap.
Replaced MAF, TPS (Basically the servo that controls the throttle opening) and TB gasket, trying to chase a weird cold start stumble
4 new tires
Alignment to fix the wandering and loose feeling

And now it needs a new windshield. Thing is really becoming a needy bitch with 124k on it. I should also remove the steering wheel and replace the trim that's flaking on either side of the airbag. It's becoming annoying as well.

Had a busy day yesterday on my 2000 SLE.
Installed front strut assemblies, front axles, front brakes, right front wheel bearing and right front tie rod end.
Also discovered 2 loose body mounts on the right front.
I tighten one of them but will have to lift up carpet in car to get to the nut to put a wrench on it to keep it from spinning.(ran out of gas)
What is weird the left side was tight but they were loose on the right side.
Project for next weekend and also change rear pads.
