Margaret actually followed me all the way to Everett. At breakfast I programed her GPS for the KOA and off she went. Seems I forgot a step in the programming and it kept wanting to send her back to Arlington. However, she actually made it here............. about 10 minutes behind me. :booty:

OK, she stopped at Costco and did some shopping but I still beat her here.

It's getting late in the day and we're finally packing the cars. I spent the morning finishing wiring up a new dedicated amplifier for my sub, after making a dedicated power connection to the fusebox for my GPS unit's power and FM traffic receiver.

I've never done a long drive with children before (luckily they'll be in Heidi's car.) -I have NO IDEA if we'll drive straight through or stop overnight, but our current plan is to go ahead and take off today, even if we're driving at night. We're nightowls, Heidi is a night-shift nurse.

I'll post in the other thread when we take off, with an ETA, but I'd like to ask people not to intentionally wait up for us, just meet us in the morning. Heck, we might not be arriving until morning. I'll provide some updates via cell-phone as we're in progress.

I have to remember to bring my car flag!
Gotta go finish packing, the good news is that both cars and Heidi and I are in good condition and ready for the drive.

More later!

I just got off the phone with Bill. This is not a problem, and because I respect Bugsi, I will not get into details, I will let him explain, but all is well. No one is to worry.

Tests OK, Bugsi is on his way back to the campsite.

Turns out it was just his wife's cooking.

Bill made me say that.

I can only imagine how hard a drive it was with a 2 and 4 year old for the first time. Very stressful!

.....and then meeting up with you guys! Well that's probably what did it!

Lisa took him in, I stayed with Heidi and the kids setting up the site, then went to the hospital later. All is well now.

As it turns out, the rumors of my demise were greatly exaggerated.

The background: First of all, traveling with the 2 and 4 year old was no problem for me: They were in Heidi's car! But the ordeal of fighting two different sleep schedules had me managing the drive by loading up the caffeine with coffee and Mountain Dew, while munching Pringle's chips. That's admittedly kind of a recipe for indigestion.

I was having chest pains with painful belching throughout the drive. Nothing to make me keel over and die, but enough to concern me, as I had heart surgery several years back. Even when pains are accompanied by gas, I have no real way of knowing if they are more serious or not. Fortunately (sorta), Heidi is a cardiac nurse. I declined to mention my pains to her during our drive as it would just freak her out, and I knew I could drop in on an Albany hospital for an EKG and blood tests that would identify if my pains were cardiac related or not. When out of my medical group's area, I'd have to go to an E.R. anyway, so I figured I'd deal with it in the evening after we got set up at the KOA. Well it was pretty hot out today, and by the time we completed the grueling trek, I was exhausted, hungry, sleep deprived, overheated, dehydrated, and wired on caffeine. When I finally told Heidi of my pains, she took my blood pressure, and let's just say "It was up there." I intended to get checked out anyway, so that just sealed the deal. Bill had Lisa take me to the E.R. where I explained why I was there, and that I wanted the tests and to just let me GO if the pains did not correlate to a cardiac event or other serious issue.

They gave me IV fluids, tested my blood, gave me a chest X-ray, ran an EKG, and determined my heart was fine. My blood pressure came down while relaxing in the cool air conditioning of the E.R. I felt much better when they released me. I'm just glad I know it's not serious, and I can now carry on enjoying my week!

(The new tent is pretty cool. The KOA has wireless Internet! W00t!

It should be stated that he arrived at the KOA wearing a black T-shirt that said boldly on the front:

I'm Not Dead Yet

And was coincidentally wearing it when Lisa got him to the ER as well.

(John, made an improvement on the 'cold front' at ZM as well, you're going to love it.)
