although i had a good experience with aamco that wouldnt necessairly mean that your aamco is a good place. i looked mine up on a few websites and found no bad reviews. but the biggest thing was my experience with the people there, they were nice and explained stuff to me (even tho i knew what it meant) and such. if i was you i would check out other shops too and find out who has the best reputation.

Ok, checked out a few and didn't really like there workers, didn't have much knowledge just kept saying we won't fully know till we crack it open..So thats a no

While I'm asking them question I was wondering what other stuff should I get done to the tranny to help it out? Shift kit? what kind? anythion else

Keep looking!! I would recommend a transgo shift kit at a mininum. Anything beyond that would depend on your budget. My built trans, including a gear ratio change was just over 3k, with install.

Would the Intense shift kit be good?

From what people on this site have said, it's a great kit, but oldblueeyesbonne found a TransGo Kit on E-Bay for $29.99.

ZZP is also cheaper

but intense also has the Tranny filter included, which the ZZP does not, IIRC

Well I went to AAMCO today and really like everything, the guy in there was extremely down to earth with me, I met the owner and he was very knowlegable. He actaully told me when they were scanning my car to see whats up with it that he was just looking at the engine and found some silicone on some part (completely forget what part) and he told me that he'll fix that with no extra charge cause that is a complete NO NO to do. After the scan was done they told me that they can't tell 100% what it is till they open, but they highly say its something minor, maybe a band or something in that nature. In the long wrong I won't lie I felt alot safer with them then were I've been getting all my repairs from. Warranty prices weren't bad really; 12months free, 3 years $359additional, lifetime $595. They found some EGR codes that were old when they scanned it as well, which I don't remember if I ever got something done to that.

They also said that my tranny fluid had a tint of orange to it and smelt burnt. I was surprised on that cause I check it before (when I posted) and it didn't, but then again that was my first time ever smelling the fluid and to me a burnt smell would be the smell of heavy burnt toast or better yet garlic bread (lovely friends know how to cook lol).

AAMCO did my trans rebuild about 2 years ago. They were very competitive price wise and did a good job. However, as it has been mentioned already, the national stores are all independently owned and operated so buyer beware. but, if you got a good tummy feeling on that shop then I would say go for it.

its unfortunate that automatic transmissions are designed to fail..and are really expensive to repair correctly.

Yea I feel really good about this place to be honest, I spoke to the owner and hes not the owner type who doesn't get his hands dirty, cause hes out there fixing everything with his workers and has someone else sit at the desk.

Tell me about it. I wish there wasnt such thing as transmission. i know i sound stupid but i hate when they go out. the have one job and they seem to mess up. lol. Is there any other way a car can move. have there been other ideas before, now, and in the future?

CVT? has less moving parts but is far more sophisticated and requires fancy electronics. Plus, they are so new and rare that they are not yet cost effective.

I wasn't able to get the intense shift kit as soon as I liked so I would be putting that in myself. AAMCO hasn't called me yet on whats up with it should be calling today. Far as I know they'll be just fixing what is necessary. Should anything be done to it? Or is it ok with w.e their fixing?

if they havent already i would suggest having them replace the 4th clutch shaft, since that is a common problem to occur on your transmission

AAMCO just called and said the 4th clutch HUB (believe I'm saying that right) needs to be replcaed. And I did say is that the $th clutch shaft and he said yea same thing and I was like yea deff fix that (only $48 part) My bands were broken (I forget how many I want to say 3 is that right?) and other. In long run it will be high 2k with stock 12month warranty, low 3k with 3 year warranty, and 3100k change for lifetime warranty..


I don't know what warranty to pick..
