My issue is more how they (Chrysler), handled the situation. It took me some 4 years, ~50,000 miles, two dealerships, multiple case managers and 8 oil consumption tests to prove my point and have them cover what is under the warranty.

Then at 80k, Chrysler's seem to fall apart with all the ticky-tacky things as we're experiencing (this is the second one that hit the wall at 80k), some of which are repeat problems of stuff I already had fixed once before under the base warranty and that now they're charging me to repair. Some of the same things your '05 had, ours has had too. Then I find out, they're relocating my neighbor who works for them, to Detroit, and taking his house, which in our current market will sell at a ~$60k loss! But they won't wheel and deal over $1,600 with a paying customer of one of their products.

And this is one of their reliable platforms... the vans, with a pretty simple and reliable pushrod V6. There isn't much too it. These new vehicles and their more complex Pentastar V6, all the infotainment B.S. they now have, safety systems, and other options they're now throwing in, leave me the "we'll wait and see how they fare" mentality. If they can't get the simple sh*t right, how can you expect them to get the complicated sh*t right? You can only polish "stuff" sooo much.

And yes, I realize GM is far from perfect, as that's where I made my bread and butter in service...

I have an issue with the Caddy and from what I'm reading, the part to fix it is no longer made! Cadillac is telling customers to deal without that option... Excuse me!?

What option is that?

Here's the thing... It doesn't matter to me how the dealer treats me because this isn't going to be a new car purchase, therefore the dealer won't ever see or touch my car after it comes off the lot. I'm looking at 3-6 year old cars that are gonna have a few miles on them. Probably <50,000 miles. To be honest, dealership horrors are everywhere so to be partial against 1 isn't fair. Where there is 1 bad Chrysler dealer, there is 1 bad GM, and 1 bad Ford and so on. Thats what happens when the first priority is money and not the customer. Sadly that everywhere these days.

Chrysler 300 SRT-8 will be next in my garage. Now just to find one with low miles! I've driven 2 with around 60-70k on them, and both were very quiet and ran well. The power of the 6.1 is downright awesome, I wouldn't be surprised to be running down most 2 door sport cars and muscle cars with a tune, exhaust, and intake. Brakes feel strong, interior was solid in both though kind of simple and plain. Seats are so comfortable and attractrive with embroidered SRT-8 near the headrest. Leg room is good in all seats, and the stereo is pretty decent for stock since it has navigation and a hard drive. I've spent alot of time on the 300 forums, and these SRT's seem to be doing very well. I'm getting a little excited here................

Heated steering wheel. I went to use it last night for the first time since last winter and it didn't work. Three things it can be once the fuse and wiring are ruled out. 1) switch. 2) heated steering wheel control module. 3) Heating element inside the steering wheel ring.

I checked the fuse last night, which requires removal of the rear seat (be careful, you can't just pop it out as it too is wired for rear seat heaters), then removal of about 8 layers of sound proofing and sound barrier components before even getting to that electrical center. Fuse was ok.

So now to test out any of those three, I have to disable the airbag, remove the steering wheel rear casing to do #2. If I have to remove the switch (#1), to test it for continuity, I have to remove the airbag which requires a special tool. If that doesn't check out, replace the steering wheel. This seems like a common problem and since the style steering wheel I have is no longer made, there are none in the parts network. Even swapping for a regular STS wheel (with the wood insets, which would be odd against my dark wood colored interior trim), isn't feasible as they don't have them either. So Caddy has been telling people to suck it up and live without it.

Those two need a drivers mod really really bad....

Edit.... is that one even an SRT8? If not then the 14.4 isn't a bad time but that V should have done much better.

If I wanted refinement, I'd buy a Mercedes, not a Chrysler....

One in the same! The current RWD platforms are based on Mercedes from when Daimler owned Chrysler.
