So, they would have to not see your headlights, meaning you were already in the intersection, in which case it wouldn't matter because by the time they got moving you would be through it already? Or they are planning to run a red light/stop sign and not yield proper right of way anyway #-o

The markers serve to indicate direction of travel to other drivers at oblique angles at night and help judge the overall size of the vehicle when passing from behind. They are more critical on trailers and non-standard size vehicles, the little 12 watt bulb on most cars won't do squat in bad weather.
