I'm guessing it's on it's third transmission.

I found the owners name and phone number in the car, gave him a call to find out the history on the car but haven't heard back (and probably won't).

Weird, exactly right.

I agree, I think it looks pretty *dang* good for 358k... I've seen a lot worse with only 100k.
Agreed...reason for my low guess. Assumed it was one of those cases..

Just curious, what do you get $ for as stripped shell of a car at the JY?

and does it need to be a rolling shell?

No, they'll drag just the shell onto the flat-bed.

Probably the value of the weight of the steel. That's all that's left at that point...

The shell is completely stripped when they pick it up. They back their truck right under it and I lower it onto the flatbed. The cost of diesel for them to pick it up is about the same as what the value of the steel is, so I just give him the shell as an even exchange.

Nice to see nothing goes to waste. What's the feasability of taking the rear quarters off the cleaner shells to be used as patch panels for those of us stricken with fuel door cancer?

sounds fair to me, plus you have a regular company to pick them up.

How much do you figure a shell weighs? Scrap is $255 / ton here (2000 lbs) and it would definitely worth it for me to haul a shell in, th scrap yard here isn't far from me.

A shell weighs maybe 1500 lbs at most. Weight for junk cars is different, but idk if at this point it's considered a junk car or just unprepared steel.

The few times that I do run across a panel that doesn't have any bubbling, I do cut it out and sell it, but its been a while since I've had a good one.

If the windshield has any chips or scratches I don't waste my time with them. For the amount of time and effort it takes to remove one without breaking it, its better off to just buy a new one.

I would totally haul the shells in myself if I had a flatbed to carry them in on, but I don't. Having the yards pick them up for free is my best option right now.

Just drag it in, lol, rope it up to the back of one of your bonnies, and hope no one complains about the sparkage.

358K and apparently still had all three of its original ignition coils. Interesting. I did not think original coils would last that long.
