Take 5 minutes with a soldering iron and swap the polarity on your stock rear deck subs. Sure they'll be firing in the opposite direction but you'll take care of the out of phase condition vs. the fronts and have subs that actually do something! Combined with a front door speaker upgrade I'm good to go for a while.

They will sound better than stock. But aftermarket sill sound much better. Though mine aren't as audible anymore thanks to the 12.

No question there. The polarity fix helped bring consistency to the lower bass (ie you actually hear what you're supposed to, though not necessarily the best quality), and the Infinity 6.5's I put in the door actually made the mid-bass worth something.

Yeah, it's been a minute since I heard a stock uplevel system that sounded so bad. Proper speakers make a huge difference. All mine really is is new speakers with proper power (ie 4ohm center channel instead of stock 16ohm) and a 12" sub. It sounds *dang* good too. Blaupunkt equipment isn't where they went wrong, it's using speakers from an Aveo that they goofed at.

Stop talking about speakers!!

I still need to do mine.
I finally fine tuned the Bonneville's new system. I don't think I can listen to anything in the G8 anymore until I replace speakers (which won't be for awhile). And, my laziness has stopped me from doing the polarity switch on the rear speakers. I think I'm just giving up on the stock speakers in that car right now. The custom setups in the LeSabre and Bonneville have just spoiled me too much.

I ran out of time to mess with the rear speakers and the antenna mod. Either Thanksgiving or X-mas break...

If you want ultimate FOB range and have Verizon, get the Delphi ConnectedCar module. I can unlock/lock/start/pop the trunk/panic mode, live track, get engine codes, get trip history, check fuel and battery level, get motion, speed, and RPM alerts from anywhere on the planet with an internet or phone connection. For instance, I know my wife was speeding when she blended a trip to the mall into what was supposed to be a quick trip to Walmart last weekend.
Speaking of speakers... I've got carbon fiber cone Infinity's on stock power all around and a 10" Pioneer sub in a 1" box in the trunk with several hundred watts. It sounds really good.

Roughly equivalent of my setup.
I'd get that app but the G8 won't be the DD like it was this summer. Still something to consider though.

Yeah I saw that John in the other thread. Thinking about it. Remote start would be really nice this winter...

Remote start is really the only reason I bought it. The rest is a bonus. I'd been seriously considering the extended range 2-way from GM till this came along.

Dammit Ed, you edited it!
Anywho, this is the winter look. Plans are new rotors/pads and saving money for my "other" plans.

Very nice! But, man, looks like you have more room in yours than mine, even though they're the same size.
This is from last year when I was test fitting:
And yes, the interior of mine is plywood. All I had to work with, being the last storage unit in the entire county last year. That's another reason it's important to have mine covered, since it is in the country, and mice live in there, knocking little bits of wood off from the rafters.
But, kind of sad to see the cars put away, knowing the fun will have to wait til next year.

No, that is the same exact amount of room, my car is parked crooked, and yes it is driving me nuts. I'm just too lazy to move it.
I like having the all metal unit, though it is noisy to get in and out of, and I had to tape a microfiber towel to the support post on the driver's side to avoid it hitting (and potentially scratching) the door when I get out of it.
Believe it or not I spent about a half hour marking the walls with tape so I would have a one-shot perfect park. So much for that I guess. But it was dark, and as you know a G8 has no backup visibility anyway, let alone with tint. I even have bright ass LEDs in my backup housings. But tinted tails.

Gotta pay to play I suppose.
And yeah, it sucks to see them away, but think of the fun (especially that you and I have planned in particular) that will come next year!

Oh yes, lots of fun next year!!
Yeah, I usually pull mine in forward, but I also don't have any plans to work on it either. Like you said, these cars are not easy to pull into a tight space backwards. The wood is more forgiving on the paint than the metal, but I have the passenger side of my car so close to the wall that a paper thin man couldn't fit through there. Makes it easier to get in and out of, put a pain in the butt to get the car cover on.

Yeah, I wanted walking space for that reason. Though I'll have to find a way to do my brakes in there. O.o
They make us back in doing deliveries at work, so I'm used to it I guess. And I already have a dented unit. It was pre-dented. In a couple places. One looks like someone opened their door way too fast into the side of the unit. Then of course the standard issue "oops went too far" dent in the back wall.
