I didn't take any pics, and I can't go to the car right now. I can only tell you what color wires were where on the other side of the connector.

From your pic:

dark blue - brown
purple - brown
grey - brown/black
brown - brown
green - light blue
orange - black

I did some more looking after we talked on the phone, I can find the issue, BUT I did figure out how to get the lighting to work correctly.

the wire you have going to the Yello on the light control, take it off the yellow ad switch it to the white wire with silver bands on it.

on second thought, don't switch that till I know it works in all lighting conditions.

I tried the remote start on my way home from work. The guages worked. Do yours turn on before you put the key in when you hit the remote start? Mine do.

I MAY have figured out whats going on..

when you remote start your car in the morning, is it still dark enough out that the Auto headlights/dash lights come on?

because now that I switched that one wire, I've got the same issue as you, but only in the morning.

How about this morning when I started it with the key, and none worked, and then after I let it warm up for a couple minutes, just the volt gauge worked. And then I restarted it, and they all worked. And then after a few minutes, the oil temp gauge spiked way high?

And my lights only come on when I put the key in.

Maybe you stressed one of your connections?

Hey Pete, did you use that one wire in the seperate little green connector? I don't remember seeing it in your instructions, so I didn't do anything with it.

This shifter looks great! Too bad they don't just come from the factory with better looking ones, but I guess if you made everything look great it would cost more or you wouldn't get the performance attributes under the hood. Plus, you wouldn't have the fun in replacing the boring-looking parts.

Ignore the dust...

So, the stock steering wheel has perforated leather that tends to shrink, pull back and peel away from the top of the spokes by the top of the airbag. It's hard to tell without looking at a new stock one next to it, but where the leather comes to a point has lifted by a quarter/half inch. It drove me nuts and I had the original wheel replaced under warranty. 18 months later (beyond warranty), the new one was even worse. So, I fixed it.

After:

It's similar to the GXP's steering wheel, but it's the Australian HSV version with hexagon textured leather instead of perforated in the main grip area. The red is solid, and from most accounts, doesn't shrink as much.

Looks good!

Will and I were talking about that when I visited him. Mine's doing the same thing. I thought about getting the HSV wheel as well, until he told me how much you paid for one. . .

I might try and find a different solution down the road.

My HSV GTS wheel is doing it as well. Maybe ⅛" - ¼" but I noticed it. I'll just live with it, not paying that much for another wheel again.

What kind of leather is in that spot on your wheel?

Looks good John! Glad I got to see this beast in person. Your car is the twin of what I'd like to find, or GXP, but definitely sport red...

I was parked on the street next to my parents' driveway, and a guy in his Silverado backed out of the driveway across the street and hit my car. He was super apologetic, so I couldn't get too mad at him. The fender is done, the bumper cover might be done, he caught the wheel and tire a bit too. The wheel damage is pretty minor, but I'm a bit afraid it could have tweaked some part of the suspension. It doesn't track any different than it used to, but feels a little different over bumps, and just looks a little toed-out to me. The fender is pushed back just enough that the door caught it the first time I got in and left a chip on the edge of the door. It was easy to pull out so I could drive home. Sheetmetal sure is thin nowadays.
