Time for an update...its time to set it apart from the common GP and try the 2 tone. Just using silver Plasti-Dip for now, very forgiving if I don't like it, but so far it looks like it will become a permanent fixture because I like it. I still have a thin trapezoid on the lower sideskirts being considered...and I got rid of the rear mesh, big difference. I am also testing out the good 'ol Home Depot lip :) . One shows a mock up of the exhaust size going on. Won't be a rolled tip however, going single wall slant 4.5", and going to angle them towards the outside and down to be unique.

Here is a few shots of it now...

Certified badass! I love it! Are you coming down to the 3800 gathering next weekend? If so, are you bringing this or the Bonne?

Thanks for the compliment...I had the Bonne there last year, and planned until about a month ago to be there this year with both the Black GP and the Bonneville (since it is fathers day weekend, I told the wife she had to bring the other car and kids to be with their dad). However, I have been sidetracked into being the best man at my buddy's wedding on the 14th. YES, I did ask him if he would be willing to have a 3800 wedding...but his better half gave me a pretty serious look on that... :dontknow: So this year, I am sadly going to be absent.

Hello All...

Been a while since I posted an update on the car development...but I have some very difficult news to share on this 48,000 mile special edition.

First, let's go with the good...here is what it became from stock. I put nothing but love and care into this machine. The car had never seen snow, barely even got to see rain. Was showroom condition in, out and under. I had the built L26 Gen V engine ready to go in...and was going to do the installation the last weekend of May, just in time to bring this beauty to the 3800 meet in Detroit this year. Custom Solo exhaust and oversize tips, two tone trimming...and sitting nice and low on 20" Boss rims. Just did drilled/slotted rotors as well. Yes, she is shown with GTX trimming, but that was just because I was too lazy to debadge the GT for the last year...so I made it look fancy and unique for a while. Never intended to keep it on there, just never got around to finish the debadge...

This is what my prized possession looked like on May 19th....just had a claybar.

Now the bad...

Unfortunately, I have been working out of town a lot in the last 10 months, and I had just pulled this machine out of the garage after the spring thaw, cleaned it up, and drove it a few weeks...parked at the secure airport garage in Toronto like I have for 8 years to travel. This trip out of town however, my life changed forever, as did this devastating loss for the Pontiac heritage. My car was stolen, driven into the ground and beat, stripped, trashed and dumped on the frame in an industrial area.

The loss of the car is second only to the pain felt when someone trashes a valued belonging that you have invested endless hours into, and you planned to keep forever.

Rest in peace to this 48,000 mile mint condition 2007 GP. She is a total loss, and was stolen 9 days before it was set to be appraised.

I am both sick and pissed. If you ever find out who is responsible, post their information here. I'd like the opportunity to drive up there and pay their face the same respect they gave your car. B@stards.

Wow this it terrible news and really sad to see. I cannot imagine the pain that would feel like to see the aftermath of your pride and joy. I was cringing as I read down this post. I was just talking about you and trying to find out who you were on Facebook so we could invite you to our get together this weekend. There sure are some terrible people in this world with more lack of morals than I will ever be able to understand. This was one of my favorite Grand Prixs, may she RIP. If I can try to make any good of this situation all i can say is at least you didn't have the motor in it yet. If you wanted to drive down with the Bonneville this weekend to Matt's place I know you would be more than welcome. PM me or Matt or look me up on Facebook by searching Nick Watercott if you want the details.

Thanks man...yeah words don't much describe it for me. It was part of my secret plan to try to hit up both the 3800 gatherings (Matt's and the Detroit show), but this turned my entire car life on its head. I still have the Bonne, she still is rock solid 192,000 miles...and still have my 2005 GT2...but I don't know if I have the passion anymore now. I am looking at a mint condition Daytona 500 right now, but I don't know if I will do it. I hope I don't end up with a 3800 fire sale, and a god dam Kia in the driveway. It is possible however after this loss.
And I just did the Helmsmann's headlight job on the SSEi a couple weeks ago...man, that stuff works stellar...it makes it look so new.

Yea throwing in the towel would sound appealing and not anything anyone would hold against you given the circumstances. Maybe a few beers, good conversation, and some car show therapy will be just what the doctor ordered to help you cope. Hopefully there is an aggressive investigation into this and they find the scum responsible. If justice can be served it will at least provide you some closure. Depending on your insurance company they will go to pretty far lengths to find those responsible for the claim.

I'm sorry to hear this man, I really am. I can't imagine how pissed and heartbroken I'd be if that happened to me.

WOW!!! Just WOW!!!

I'd be making lots of purchases of firearms ammo/ordinance, and starting to hunt down those involved if this were my pride and joy. I'd be on Ebay, craigslist, and the GP forums (Club GP, etc) looking for your parts, and then tracing it back...

Being a secured parking lot, isn't it under surveillance? They would see who is coming/going... Being a secured lot, I'd be sending them the bill. I don't care if they post that you park there at will and that they're not responsible. This is a purposely secured lot!

So sorry man, that was such a beautiful ride!!! Pisses me off to hear that!!

My friend literally cried when someone stole his Grand Cherokee, I couldn't imagine such a loss!

Best of luck for you to get through this.

I have tipped many beers and whiskey since this happened. It only seems to further blur the future.

You do get over these kinds of things, but they are not easy, especially when you have been in a 3800 for well over a decade. When you finally have that one you want to hold onto forever, and its taken from you, recovery is not swift or simple.

So far, insurance seems to be nothing more than a waste of time, having left the car in the impound for over a week in the rain with windows down and no engine covers, etc. I still have heard nothing about what they plan to offer for this car, but I know it will be pretty much nothing. They are probably still trying to search online sales and find something in this kind of condition to compare. Good luck on that.

Wow, this is terrible to hear. I live a stone's throw from the airport and would completely lose it if it happened to me.

Best of luck on the insurance front, I know it's not going to be fun, but stay principled and make the best of it.

Found out a few minutes ago that they in fact backed right up to it on the second floor of the 5 floor garage, hooked a nylon tow rope up to it, and used a suburban to tow it right out to the front gate. They then put a ticket in, gate went up, out goes both the SUV and my prized possession, and bye bye forever.

I wonder what the 6 o'clock news will think of that happening at our international airport official parking lot, because I think I should help others like me from the risk of losing their cars.

You'd be amazed how quickly they can get it.

Here in Chicago, the Department of Streets and San run around with blue tow trucks, use a boom lift on the back and downtown in the Loop, if you're parked illegally, they can hook up and pull you away in about 15 seconds.

So what, right? Well, some enterprising criminals got wise, repainted some tow trucks light blue, installed these same hydraulic boom lifts on the back, and started jacking cars through the neighborhoods.

So you'd be amazed how quickly they can get what they want.

Seeing that makes me sick, such a shame seeing a nice car trashed like that. I've been there before, I had a Cherokee and it got stolen from in front of my house and it was stripped. Then they burned it. Hopefully they catch whoever did it.

That's brutal. The only thing worse would be if it happened to a person like that...

Try and gather up all your receipts and info on the mods you had. Even though you didn't have it appraised, your insurance should still cover things above & beyond normal replacement parts since they were on there. That is if insurance in Canada is anything like in the U.S....

I hear you. Insurance is much the same I suspect, but they already started the "well I am not sure if any of the extras will be covered, but we will try". When you buy stuff on forums or at swap meets and car shows, you don't always have receipts. I gave them screen shots and prices for new and delivery to Canada for their reference, and then posted beside it what I paid. I saved over half the value buying used and at meets, so I gave them a fair target to reimburse without over-burden. I can try and look back on some things, but I have been working on cars and accumulating stuff in the 3800 community now for 15 years...some is untraceable anymore. Even some of this stuff is 8 years...

We shall see what they do...
