That's a clean looking GXP interior considering the price of the car. At least the suede still looks clean.

I would kill for a GXP in that condition, and for that price!!

Nice score, Ryan, can't wait to see what you do with it!

Well, I can't say for 100% sure yet, but I think I can get it running. Messing with it outside and it does fire and I even had it somewhat running at one point. I think a big part of the problem is bad gas. It just smells bad to begin with and then also I used the drain valve on my fuel pressure gauge and the fuel looks brownish when sitting on a white background. Raining now so not gonna do anything more until tomorrow, but gonna drain more gas and get a better look at it. Also going to pull all plugs out and check them out.

I can't rule out yet though that the engine isn't junk. Until I see it running and know it runs good I will still assume the engine is junk.

Engine is junk, pretty sure it jumped timing on the intake cam on the front bank, broke all the cam followers off the head, likely bent valves and all that good stuff.

Looks like it will be parted out, which is what I was assuming would happen right from the beginning.

Ouch, never heard of one doing that before. Seems like not quite as likely of a failure considering that it's a timing chain instead of a belt. Sounds like many miles of abuse with shatty/few and far between oil changes.

Keeping anything for yourself? :P

Sounds like this isn't the first one this happened to either - http://www.cadillacforums.com/forums/ca ... 80485.html

Pulled the front plugs and found they were like new clean but soaked in fuel, knowing they guy said he replaced the plugs and thinking the problem was ignition / bad fuel related this didn't surprise me. I didn't think he changed the back plugs though since they are literally such a major PITA to get too. I ended up getting them out and this is what I found.

While the plugs were out I figured I would run a compression check just to see what I had to work with before I went any further, zero compression on all front cylinders, I thought I was doing something wrong! Checked one of the rear cylinders and got 120 PSI, checked the front again and still nothing on any of them. I decided to pull the front valve cover to check for bent valves and right away I noticed something bad. When I got it all the way off this is what I found...
Image

All eight intake valve cam followers were not even in place and just laying around in the head! Also noticed a long thin piece of plastic / broken chain tensioner.

So, needless to say looks like it will be parted out, so many good parts on this thing!

I'd snag the door handles if I had the cash cause I miss mine. XD

That thing is pretty much immaculate.

Looks like you have about $3.2million in parts if my quick mental math checks out.

Man, with that thing is in such good shape, I'd put another engine in it and drive the wheels off it.
To bad that it gets parted out, makes a rare car even more so, for the ones that survive.
Good luck with it!

I would love so much to put gxp rims on the Olds. I hate being broke, lol.

Since you are looking at a swap anyway, why not make that the donor body for the L67 instead of the SE? What am I missing?

I think a cleaned-up N* block would make a great coffee-table base!

But yeah, seriously, why not fix up the GXP and pull a haro? Throw a cheap L36 in the SE and flip that, and then have the GXP and the SSEi...

Yeah, if you're parting it out, I'd love the door handles, steering wheel (with buttons), and the pedals, but I agree with the others, drop an L67 in there!
