Hey, we made it to Olympia and have just finished a swim in the pool at the Holiday Inn here.
Bullet is running just great! Averaged 26.4 mpg over the 300 miles we just drove. Trani temp never went over 170.
Was making some funny dinging noises from the alert chimes but no codes.......except the oil life % reset by itself to 99%.
Other thing Victor says is different is it comes out of 2nd gear at 106 mph instead of 85 like his.
Victor drove half the way. He did very well.
The Grizz never made it.......and neither did my raced tires.
Breakfast is at 6:30 tomorrow morning and we'll be leaving right after. Should put us in Corvallis about 4 hours later.
See you all soon.

Am I to assume that this thread is an official WCBF photo and text update source? I'm so sorry I couldn't make it out there this year. Looks like it's going to be full of cameras. Will this be the year my PC crashes from trying to load all the pics and videos?
Too bad about the Grizz not making it out. Whose car is next in line for looking like my 94? Will's cars look too shiny.

Dinner crew last night:
Laser show last night on Mattski:
Bo giving a wakeup call (had 6 canadians here last night, too early for their KOA reservations):
Why the Zilla wouldn't start or run:
Yes, that is a better-than-oem quality cam sprocket, and yes, it only has 500 or so miles on it. Got one of my spares going back on tomorrow and we're going to try to get it back in running condition sometime mid-day wednesday.
No intercooler, no LSD. Pretty much in last year's form, only without running out of injector this time.
And before anyone asks, the S2 double roller timing set won't fit a series 1, and nobody makes one. I've got an idea for a custom solution, but I do believe I've finally found the weakness of the Series 1 L67. And the intercooler probably pushed it over the edge.

So fess up Bill.......who found it?
Looks like the key failed. That certainly explains everything. Good find. Should be a quick fix.

I found it.
Key is pristine and is being re-used. On the Series 1, the camshaft only extends 2/3 of the way into the sprocket. With my 105# valvesprings and raised rpm's, as well as the way I drive, I was bound to find the weak spot. This means th key itself is also only engaged in 2/3 the thickness of the sprocket.
It's pushing 11pm, I'm heading back out. I'm going to try my best to get that car running for raceday. It'll take most of tomorrow with Pdad, Mattski, and I working on it. I'll leave my spark plugs on the SLE to someone else. I'll need most of the day wednesday to put the REST of the car back together though. I have a PCM hanging, wiring harnesses out, buncha stuff that needs to be buttoned up and cleaned up, then I need to get as many miles on the PCM as possible. I haven't yet tested my EGR blockoff setup for use with the intercooler, and it's too late to undo it. No time.

The crowd so far before sunset (nearly all so far):
Bo in a tugowar with John and Margaret Hill's mop:
My pile:
My mess:
Timing cover, water pump, and crank sensor are now back on the car. I'm off to bed. Bob, Vince, and Tarah should be rolling into the KOA right now. We'll see them in the morning.
Should be turning the key on the Zilla sometime early tomorrow afternoon depending on how sore and slow I am.
(Paul, this is by no means a QUICK fix.

Looks like fun
How much of a PITA is that to do with the engine in the car? I've done it twice on a stand, coming up on 3.
One year I'll have to make my way out there.

It's almost easier to pull the motor to do it. You don't want to do this in the car.
2ksilverbullet, Laura, and Victor are here.
Vince, Tarah and Bob too.
Matt, Wendy, and Peter are inbound
Tracy is in the air, due in about 4pm in Portland.
Celine and Keven are near their Hotel in Corvallis.
John Hill swapped his rear swaybar this morning, I'm still putting the Zilla together, and there's some window tint appointments later today.

Hey Bill, who is John Hill?
Two parcels arrive at your door with the name John Hubbard on them and you still call me John Hill?
See you at 8am, I'll need coffee.

For those that don't know, Zilla hasn't run in 4 months. She's back together now with last year's top end (no intercooler).
She ran back home from the KOA MUCH better. I need to put some miles on for the PCM to re-learn alot. TONS of work on it tomorrow to make the car track worthy. Two front struts on JOHN HUBBARDS car and a front swaybar as well (where the fook did I get John Hill from?).
Everyone scheduled so far is here safe, including Tracy and Dave. Petraman is here as well. Taylor is pulling a late night drive, due here at my place about 2am. Bo or Coffee will wake him up in the morning. Thomas (PDXGTP) is in town, and due at my place some time tomorrow as well. Celine and Keven are here with BOTH red Grand Prix's.
Looks like other than Taylor (tpulliam79), only Shadd (chadow427) is in question, other than Hans (who is on schedule).
We got a ton of people and cars here, and now no major issues. Just some tweaks, and we're all ready for testing at the track Thursday night. Most are running to the Coast tomorrow, with a small handful of us staying behind to do the remaining car work.

Vince rode shotgun. We burned an eighth of a tank in about 2 miles.
Vince, I'd owe you a change of shorts if you'd been on the drive back to my place after the KOA. She's coming around now. It usually takes a couple hundred miles for the PCM to get it right.

Bring your tools on the coast run Bill and we'll help you get that PCM to learn.
Laura was up before me this morning and ready and rarin for another exciting day.
Victor is in the shower and I'm ready to go right now!!!!
We are supposed to meet at the KOA at 9:30 for the 10 am fart can start.
....oh, I just saw Celin leave in her nice red GTP....I could hear the familiar exhaust sound as she drove by my hotel window. She should be at the KOA waiting with Keven now.....or maybe making coffee for the sleepy KOA tenters.

Doing John and Margaret's 94SE front struts and FE2 swaybar right now. Zilla button-up work too, and maybe a front hub diagnosis for PDXGTP. Echo is staying behind with us from the Coast Run for tech support. Taylor too. Got some wrenches to turn.

Front stuts and sway bar are in with a lot of help. Not nearly as easy as the rears. Taylor brought me some wheels to replace the corroded, crappy stock wheels.
Cost me more to swap tires and balance the new wheels than it did for an allignment.
Worth it though, Christine drives and looks like a completly different car.
Window tint.
5 spoke GP wheels.
FE2 sway bars and poly end link bushings.
4 new struts.
Pictures to come when I get home.
