Alright so i finally got a chance to work on my car today and got a fair amount done. I got a lot of things out of the way to take off the timing cover and also got the HB off.

so pretty sure it's shot.

And something interesting i found out was that it has this special bolt.

I didn't need a puller to get it off either just slid right off pretty easily.

yup, your balancer is also 100% shot.

Still though, your timing chain and tensioner is also 100% shot so DO NOT stop there thinking you are done. Good find on that balancer though :beerchug:

well i got it done finally and the whole front cover is full of new parts. New water pump, oil pump, timing chain and sprockets (also got the stupid magnet replaced finally so no more check engine light) new crankshaft sensor, cam sensor, and all new gaskets obviously. The timing chain itself seemed fine but the tensioner that was on there had the plastic part break and i think that allowed the spring to pop off, the plastic seemed to hold the spring on to the "stud" of the bolt. the new damper i got was a completely different design but bolted in fine and seems a lot more full proof so i feel safer with this one. Also sorry but i didn't take pics of anything because i just wanted to get it done so i didn't have to keep driving around my dads crappy truck. two weeks with that thing is just the worst, i couldn't take it, i was about to say screw it and just walk everywhere. That and it ended up raining wed so i was kinda rushed to get it done by friday before i worked and would have had to wait another week to finish it. All seems to be well no funny knocks or weird shakes anymore, the only downside is i think im burning some oil cause i smell it a tiny bit at stoplights and such but the oil level and pressure are fine so im not to worried for the moment but will investigate soon for the source. just home its not the front cover gasket thats leaking.

Glad to hear you got it fixed. As for the burning oil, there are no exhaust components on that end for it to burn on. Is there a chance you dripped some when adding oil? Otherwise, you may have a bad valve cover or pan gasket.

Well before i pulled the pan and found the spring my dad had me pull off the valve covers so maybe one of them is leaking. Good advice on there not being exhaust on the front cover side though. Ill post my findings tonight.
