When I'm done, my Monte should be running:
- ZZP 2.5" downpipe w/ high flow cat (already on)
- L67 Coils (also already on)
- L67 modified Throttle Body
- Port Matched LIM (only matched to heads, as earlier stated, I'm not porting the heads)
- ZZP's HV3
- PLOG
- ZZP's ER Rockers
- And last, but certainly NOT least a computer tune

Out of the box, I am impressed with the stock L36, I think it is a powerful v6. In the end, I am speculating these mods should give me a nice and NOTICABLE increase in power to the car.

"you can only use what you can flow" is so true from what I understand. I know Willwren preached in one thread mod #1 should be a LIM port (to get the most bang for the buck from all other mods). It really does make sense. Putting more air in does not do a heck of a lot of good if you have bottle necks. I'm sure somewhere in performance modding, there is a limit to that logic.

Live and learn. Again, I know I am venturing out of my realm a LOT. This is why I've asked questions and do a LOT of reading. More I understand, the better I can accomplish any task.

I pick up my now cleaned donor intake (he cleaned it in a parts cleaner) tonight from a friend of mine. From there, it's a matter of when I begin to dable with it (and trust me, I'm anxious)!!

I completely understand...

My Van That I modded( I must have mental issues, first its a van... Second its over 4k with me sitting in the drivers seat )

I used the L26( series III )

Kissed the intake side of the heads to get rid of the step from the intake to the head... The series III has ever so slightly larger valves iirc.. I mean slightly too... But from what I understand better flow characteristics.. As well as the Powered Metal Forged Rods, some like em some don't..

The Cam I used is a Comp Cam NA performance cam... only reason I bought is that I got it NIB for $180.. .517 intake & .498 Exhaust

LS6 Valve springs
Comp Cam Retainers
Comp NA Performance Cam
Ported Lower Intake
Ported Front Manifold( PLOG will not fit my application )
95 Bonneville Down Pipe
Magnaflow High Flow Cat
Magnaflow Muffler
97 Bonneville PCM
GX3 3.33 Ratio 4T60E

It was interesting to get it all to fit in the van, good thing the van cam with 3800's from 92-95, and the newer block changed very little as far as mounting goes.. Playing with the Scangauge at one point it said 265 Hp and 270-280 Ft Lbs.... My Brain is thinking more along the lines of 250 Hp and 260-270 Ft Lbs... Pretty good for an NA 3800 if I do say so.. But I am not done with it yet so there is more to come... It is funny to see the looks on peoples faces when the old Dust Buster runs off and leaves.... Still a 4000 Lb Tank( more like 38xx Lbs ) with a tow hitch... Fun and practical all at the same time...

I do understand where you are and why...lol... Next project will be my 95 Bonneville..... 3465 Lbs..... Should be a lot easier to move around... I need to make a certain mustang owner cry...LOL

JRS, I've noticed the van in your sig and I'll admit, I do find it funny to mod a van.... but by the same, it makes it that much more unique. I doubt many (if any) people messed with modding the 3800 on the vans.

Depsite the weight difference, with the specs you rattled off, I can just IMAGINE that van just taking off like a bat outta Hell!

Does pretty good... And will spin the 235 60's

It was never really intended to be this way... It was going to be a stock L26... But then while I was there... Ported the LIM.... Kissed the heads.... Then a Cam somehow got slipped in the motor... It just goes on from there... Once you start its hard to stop... Figgured why the H*** not, and no one will have one like it...LMAO

I have gotten you way off topic...

If you have any questions, we are here... :)

No problem being off topic. Quite alright. Some of these "off topic" rants in other threads I've found useful (whether they are my threads or not).

Thanks again JRS and EVERYONE else that have shared their info on this topic!
