The bottom bolt of the caliper was removed, the top "pin" and it is a pin, may have made the calipers slide up, but there was no side to side movement, which is not good for these new pads, there is no access point to remove this pin, or punch it out with a punch, unless the whole unit was removed and a vice was utilized with some kind of tool to remove this, obviously its frozen to a degree since the calipers do not move side to side, which is resulting in unusual rapid wear of the pads,,,,,,,,,,,,,,I havent received an email back on how to resolve this "frozen pin" issue, but for now, have replaced the blower motor, (easy job) fixed the rear defrost grids (easy) adjusted the moonroof, (easy) havent fixed the stabilitrac service msg,,,,,,,,,,,no tech 2 tool here,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,or the driver front heated seat,,,,think once most these issues are resolved, time to look into the g-8,,,,,,,,am so done with this car at this point, but will have everything fixed before I sell this,,,,,,,,,,,,,,and what do you know, no recalls with all these water leak issues, electrical bugs, etc etc, can't reccommend this car to anyone at this point, it is under powered for the engine and goodluck finding aftermarket performance parts including the lame ass headlights that suck.............angel eyes? nope just on grand pri's and solstices.......why? oh and grand am's too and maybe the gto............fog lights keep burning out too, never owned a vehicle with all these issues at once before.....now I know why they call it "government motors" now, yeah time to sell who wants to buy my gxp with 72k on it?????lol

Actually, General Mistake cars were garbage long before Obama screwed over the bondholders in order to pay back the union for voting for him.

You do realize the calipers are made by PBR, right? Last time I checked, PBR wasn't any company GM owns, subsidizes, or has a joint venture with.

Actually, No, didn't know that, guess my general point was, wow lots of bugs to fix at once, all and all I do like this car, just wish I wasn't spending so much time hunting down solutions to annoying little problems, overall, the car mechanically is great and no issues, less expensive to fix than my 2.7t audi I had,,,,,,,,when that broke I became broke.........I'd buy a gm again!

Just thought I'd point that out is all.

General Motors cars, on the margin, have been crap since about 1977.

My latest purchase of this 2005 Bonneville, to replace a totaled 1996 Cadillac Fleetwood, suggests that nothing has changed.

Yes, it does. PBR supplies all manufacturer's. Not just GM. The part GM sourced from them isn't any different than some part put on another manufacturer's vehicle. GM sent out a pitch for a part meeting "XXX" requirements, PBR responded with it. Blame PBR. My CD Changer jammed. I suppose that's GM's fault, right? Not a fault with PIONEER (the manufacturer), huh?

But that's your opinion, not mine. I only worked on them for a living, as well as everything else in some fashion, so...

If they're crap, quit buying them... The biggest way to send a message if you think their product is sub-par is not to buy it!

I figured before buying from the japanese like every other smart person, I'd give Pontiac another chance, since I already own several from 1954-1976.

Of course, General Motors never fails to disappoint.
