BE-AUTIFUL!
I've driven two SS' (one white, one black, both SS.) and I loved em. Also tried out a GP GXP.
The SS is a beautiful car and the ride quality and handling is amazing. The torque steer also isn't as bad as you'd think it'd be.
LOVE IT!

lookin good.
but I'm curious why you chose the impala SS over a G8? Any particular reasons?

Yup.
1) Cost to insure.
2) The ability for this car to take up the negative equity from the Malibu.
3) The final price was too good to pass up.
4) For some reason, the G8 interior hits a nerve in a few spots with me.

Not that I can afford anything nicer, but I can't for the life of me figure out why they would think that much power belongs in a front wheel drive. It's nice to see Cadillac going to all RWD. Just makes no sense from an engineering standpoint to make the front tires do 80% of the effort and throw off the weight bias like that.
But if you like driving it, that's all that counts I gues.
Looks very shiny, though. Nice job.

It had a lot, if not everything to do with GM's chose of transmission for the Impy SS and GP GXP. Any modifications to this engine without increasing the strength of the transmission is going to be a disaster.

It's also all in HOW it's driven too. I don't light the tires with it, though it is very easy to do. As I said, I DO plan on putting in a transmission cooler to help the lifespan. Then again, I DO have the 5/100 powertrain plan...so I probably won't have to worry about it for quite a while

Those are fantastic cars and the quality impressed me first time I drove one. Good buy.

I think the 9C1 Cooler on that car would do it a lot of good...
I have heard a lot about how the 65-E does not need a cooler... But the last 65-E I did a trans service on had overheated the fluid.... Very dark brown.... With the 5.3 LS4 that thing is bound to get good and hot..
But driving the SS is a pleasure... And for a FWD... It handles like its on Rails

Great looking car. My mother has an 07 LTZ cause she didn't want the SS (much to my father's dismay) They are great cars to ride in and very comfortable.

Very nice, Brad!! I missed when you got it. Matter of fact, I can't seem to keep up with your latest car at all. You move them to quickly for me.

Aint gonna move anymore for quite some time. I finally sold the SSE, and once finances get back on track, I'm going to look for something else as a project. I'll probably go back to a Shelby Charger if I can find one around here in decent shape...if not, a Daytona or LeBaron convertible again (I had two of them before...one a turbo GTC and the other a V6 LX). Maybe a Cavi Z-series with the 60* V6...who knows.
Just did my first mod with the SS today actually...poly endlinks on the front sway. A MUCH needed improvement.

Uhm.....no. I find the power and torque of the V8 as it is, is more than enough. Esp. with gas the way it is. Besides, the -65e is at the strongest level possible besides an LSD, and it's still a weaklink behind the LS4.
My mods will be geared towards reliability...INTENSE shift kit, 9C1 cooler, and an engine oil cooler (looks like one could just bolt up using Vette hardware...or maybe the 9C1 spec calls for an engine oil cooler. I'll find out tomorrow as the exhaust came in), a 180-stat (and programming to match once I pay for the credits for HP Tuner) and firmer shifts should be welcome editions to the SS.

500 and change JUST for the cooler...not including any lines or labor. F that. I got a Hayden sitting on my toolchest I can use.
Got my exhaust on today...still a factory GM exhaust, but it seems a bit more throaty than before. Also has nice, new polished tips on it...me likey!
