Yeah, I hate them, I refuse to put one on the T/A, and once I get a new grille and have my front end resprayed down the road this car won't get one either.

That thing is pretty sweet. I wonder what one of those would set you back?

I was thinking about getting the manual version. I'll probably chicken out and get one instead of going plateless. But the powered one is just too expensive for me, plus I have plans already to mount one hidden switch, I don't want two. :P :-$ :-#

So I can look like James Bond? Maybe.

If I can't find something better to spend the extra hundred bucks on.

Or you could just move to New Mexico. Not only are front plates not required, but 20% tint is legal here too.

Not even counting we don't have none of that nasty rust stuff around here

Plus how could I leave the awesome group of people in this area behind? :D I'm sure NM is nice, and I would sure enjoy the climate more.

Id consider the motorized if I lived in a state that required front plates and drove something as nice your GXP. then its not out all the time. and if a cop tried to pull you over for no front plate, press a button and say "I don't know what you're talking about, officer."
couldn't be too difficult to build your own if you had the time. a drawer slider, a spring hinge, and an old window motor might do the trick.

another hidden switch? cant wait to see what that's about.
hopefully some exhaust cut outs ;)

I was JUST reading a post about a guy on the G8 Board who has his wired up so that when he starts the car it goes up, and when he shuts it off it hides.

I'm thinking very seriously the motorized version would be worth it if, IF I were to wire it up like he did.

It was good on my GTI. It is a bit overpriced already though, don't do the powered version. A cop may ticket you for no plate when parked if they don't see it.

The Bimmer is mounted to the trim with no drilled holes, and there is an OEM trim strip available that is plate free... But it's nice to be legal and it doesn't block cooling or affect aero.

Mine doesn't block cooling, or even look that obtrusive placed where it is in my opinion...

I agree. I just hate when holes get drilled in the bumper just to put a stupid license plate on. That's how all our bonnevilles have been

Pisses me off more considering how much a GXP bumper/lower grille costs. I found a deal on a lower grille once I get money for it, and the bumper needs a respray someday anyway, rock chips. So I'm not too worried. I might just nix the front plate all together when that happens, since at that point I plan to make this the "fun car" (read: No winter duty, etc.)

Got a large box earlier today... Decided to throw it on, and also removed the NVH (Noise, Vibration, and Harshness (my ass)) insulated cover on the intake manifold. The difference with the intake is noticeable sound wise, it has a slight whistle at low rpms and roars at WOT.

Sorry for the *shoot* quality, I broke the accelerometer in my phone and now it doesn't know which way is up. (Literally) I have a new dedicated camera for videos and pics on the way, so I'll have more soon.

Sounds good!! I love the roars these things make when opening the throttle!

I still need to remove that thing off my intake, just worried I'll break something while trying to, as that's my kind of luck.

I broke the tabs on that stupid cover on purpose to get it out without removing more than the fuel rail bolts. I got lucky but man is that thing wedged in there good. Overall took about a half hour to get it out. Engine cools down a lot better now that it doesn't have an inch of foam on the intake.
