Why, because people around here don't want cleared corners, because they don't want modded cars?

I see, I had a new key made and my security light still comes on. But that's another issue.

I agree with not clearing the corners if you are re-selling it.

because it's not worth the effort when the buyer will likely not even notice

That, too, makes sense.

So heres a question that is somewhat related to this thread:

Is that all there is to a rebuild? Just replace those thin gears and that splined shaft? Forgive me, I have NO knowledge of transmissions, how they even work, etc. Its just amazing that it looks like Andrew had the gears out and everything, and he could have replaced them during the process. Thats a huge expense normally.

I doubt I could ever take on such a project at my current knowledge level, but it sure doesn't seem like its worth $1.5K+.

no, that is not a "rebuild"

That was a rebuild of the OD section, the clutches, and everything. A transmission is much more complex than that, especially a FWD trans. That's why you pay your transmission shop so much money to fix it.

While I did get pretty far into the trans, enough to scare me the first time I started the car, that was no-where near a full rebuild.

I stripped my practice trans, here are most of the parts, in no particular order.

Whoa, what progress! I actually stopped getting email notifications about this post. Too bad since I would have been on the edge of my seat while waiting for more updates. Great job on the transmission! Looks like it's a lot of work that paid off very nicely. Is it now that you just have to get the chrome trim piece, and then the car goes up for sale?

Very cool, got the 'hard' part done. I hope you make a killing on her.

Yeah, the chrome piece and the oil pressure sensor. If the car doesn't sell immediately, I might attempt the LIM gaskets, but not right now. I'm honestly sick of working on it.

I would be too. Especially since it's not even 'your' car. You are doing all this work for someone else in reality....

You should point the seller to this thread, and edit out the price you paid for it. Then they'll really know what they're getting.

I hear those FWD Bonneville SE's make great winter cars. and cheaper on gas :)

Recently learned only the SSEi/GXP have the Stabilitrack. Have you driven a car with that Jim? Its impossible for me to spin the car on ice, it automatially keeps the car straight by computersized braking. The SE can't do that.

I'm already at 151k on the Ei... who cares anymore... I don't plan on selling it anytime soon, and the engine and trans are low miles, so I'll drive it into the ground.

I bought this car specificially to flip, and thats how its going down ;)
