I'll admit, I may be a sucker, but I bought this kit after a few beers last week...
It was only $60 and after hearing opinions from the pros on here I have my doubts.

Anyway... It came in the mail today, so I thought I'd offer up a pic of what I recived (there were a couple zip ties not shown).
(I included the cigarette pack just to give an idea of the size... ):

The 2 little red clips splice the device (inline) with the IAT sensor.
There's a guy at work who swears it was worth the money, but I'm having my doubts...
According to the intruction sheet it trains the PCM and may take some time to see results (300 miles/6 run cycles).
I know I'm a noobie here, but I'm NOT a shill!
I'll install it this weekend, give it some time, and report an honest opinion after a couple weeks...
Really though, 75HP + 5mpg is probably wishful thinking after seeing the gear!

Stay tuned for legit updates...

Snake oil..
Anything that plugs into where your IAT sensor should go doesn't work as advertised.

You could have accomplished the same thing with a 5¢ resistor at Radio Shack.
Open up the box for a good laugh.

If anything, after 300 miles your PCM will realize what's going on based on all your other sensors, and compensate for a mucked up IAT reading, thus returning you to stock (not that you gained anything in the first place)

LMAO haha, off topic, but I bought a shower head off of HSN after quiet a few beers, didn't need the shower head to begin with but HSN was pushing its "features" like crazy haha. Sorry for the off topic lol.

Reminds me of the Jerry Seinfeld act about telemarketing and the Gin-Su knife...

/Endofftopic, again...

I tried to open it up (notice lable top tight), but it's sealed tight w/ no screws...
I was curious myself as to what was inside.
The clips don't actually cut the wires, so I guess I'll go ahead and try the thing since I was gullible enough to buy it.
If I don't see any difference, I'll open it up one way or another...
Probably never get my money back anyway.

Ahh, good ol' Ebay snake oil. I always get a kick out of doing a generalized search and seeing those 45hp!! and 20mpg!!! things pop up. There's been a few cases over the years over on the LH forums of some newbie buying one and asking us how to hook it up, which you cant. Ahhh, good times.

I have made worse $60 mistakes in my life, and am curious if it does anything.
I bet I could make a box half the size and make a bunch of money, advertising that this box is smaller than the competitors.
Did it at least come with stickers? Those alone are good for at least 5hp a piece.

I thought they were 10hp a sticker?

Only if it is a sticker of a sticker.
I think a wing was good for 10 hp too. Remember, a wing on a wing offers exponential gains.

I hooked it up last weekend, and in general, I have to say you folks were right...
I haven't dyno tested or anything, so there's no hard proof, but to be fair,
it does squeel the tires more easily and
seems a little quicker (placebo?).
Certainly
NOT the 75hp promised on the website though...

As for gas mileage.
I really don't put that many miles on the car (I live 3mi from work) so it's kinda hard to tell.
I did reset my dashboard mileage the week before I installed it though (no highway miles) and had 14.8 mpg.
Reset it again after the install and drove under the same conditions resulting in mileage of 14.1 mpg.
In no way a valid test, but I'd say it's enough to shoot the whole +5 mpg claim down!
I said I'd give my honest opinion. So there it is....
Please don't flame me for being a dumbazz, remember the conditions under which this was purchased...

Long story short (too late?

).
I agree, wasted money...

No biggie, I think it's kind of funny. Now crack open the box and see what's inside. We are all curious!
See if they can give a refund maybe, saying it didn't work as advertised?

Hey, we've all been there and done that. Sometimes for far more than $60.
At least you tried it, and reported the results, warts and all!

Don't feel bad! As mentioned, we've all been there. I'm guessing your fuel economy went down cause you were testing the performance "gains".

Thats quite possible. I'm sure I put my foot in it a little more than usual.
After reading the link
harofreak00 gave me though I won't be too surprised if mileage drops a little.
It's probably just an overpriced resistor, and if thats the case it's just making the car run richer (and using more fuel)...
I was a little worried about knocking or run on.
At least it doesn't do that so I'll probably leave it on there a little longer...
